Yes, that was always one of my nitpicks about the film... but keep in mind it largely looks at everything through the lens of the Mondo-led resurgence in movie poster art prints, which are mostly 24 x 36. It's a decent enough documentary... worth a watch.

Yes, I realize that now. The first half hour was great. I'm less interested in the Mondo era especially since I am not a Mondo fan.

I just acquired something very interesting off of Facebook Marketplace. It is a banner that is 9 feet long and 3 feet in heighth/width. On one side it shows a promotional image for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The other side is showing a promotional image of Spider-Man 2.

Now at first I thought the banner was in a movie theater. But the Spider-Man 2 image has "own it on DVD". This let's me know that most likely it was a store banner rather than a movie theater banner. This banner is also separated into small sections. Would anyone know how to combine each section into 1 huge banner??

Sounds like a video store banner, nothing theatrical. You could use clear double-sided 3M Scotch Velcro squares but know that if you removed them, it may damage the surface, but they would work well if you want to put the entire thing together if you have room to display a 9-feet long banner.

Gorilla makes a brand too, here is the Amazon listing link so you can view all your choices they make black, white, and clear from various companies, mostly from 3M Scotch, Velcro, etc.

That's what I figured. Now, the good thing is the Harry Potter side doesn't show any "Own on DVD" message, so that will be probably the side most people will see. I don't have an area right now, but when my wife and I purchase or build a home with a basement, it will be hung down there around the home theater. My wife and I love Prisoner of Azkaban so I figured I would grab this. It may not be theatrical, but it's still a pretty rare and cool find, especially since it is from 2004!!

I have a bunch of theatrical bus shelter posters and banners in my inventory, once of these days I will have my inventory complete and start offering that stuff up, but I know it takes a certain collector because these things can be massive in size.

Those posters are huge! I have a theatrical subway poster from 1991 and it is too big for any place but my basement wall.

I really need to find some legit Ghostbusters Afterlife posters.

Holy grail would be to find the first two as well.

Yeah bus shelters are generally 40x60 inches, sometimes a tad bit bigger, and then the theatrical banners can be upwards of 9-10 feet long, in some cases longer, I have some Dark Knight Rises bus shelter sets that are massive and never used, they look incredible up close as does the Dark Knight Joker theater banner that is over 7 feet tall. Remember the bus shelters and banners are designed for massively large lighbox frames in theaters, and at the malls, and bus shelters, and the banners for theaters which huge auditoriums so the average collector has very limited space to display them, but there are a lot of people who like them for their media rooms, etc. ;-)

You will need to pay an arm and a leg for an original Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2 not nearly as much. There is also the 30th Anniversary Re-Release style as well. For Afterlife there were the following, here are images if it helps with your search. I am trying to get them in stock the film looks quite good.

2020 Domestic Advance Teaser Style:
http://www.impawards.com/2021/ghostb...afterlife.html

* The 2020 International Advance Teaser Style is the same image but just says "2020" at the bottom. The teaser was released in 2020 as the film was due out then, but it was postponed to 2021 before a final style was printed.

2021 Domestic Advance Teaser Style:
http://www.impawards.com/2021/ghostb...life_ver2.html

2021 Domestic Final Style (the image is of the international but the final style is the same artwork but has the credits under the title of the film and the November 19th release date at the bottom but imagery is the same):

I was a big collector in the late 80s and early 90s.

I have things like BACK TO THE FUTURE, BATMAN, BATMAN RETURNS, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, ROBOCOP etc from that era. Those were my favourite movies back then and I would visit the local theatres and they would give away posters, after they were done. I also have some standees and don't know what to do with them now as I would like to free up the space.

The subway poster was from THE ROCKETEER which is really big. It was used in the TTC in Toronto, Canada at the station stops and is printed on thick chipboard.

There are no light box poster frames with posters inside them at your local theater? Or just not that poster?

Some nice ones indeed, Rockeeter still has quite a fan following. When I first started in the movie poster business, The teaser advance for The Rocketeer was one of the first titles I carried. I remember meeting creator Dave Stevens at a show and he signed them and mentioned how he didn't have one yet so I rolled one up and put in a tube and gave him one. He was such a nice guy and is missed by many.

Banners and bus shelters have a following but it certainly is a smaller fan base than those who collect one-sheets, but from time to time I get customers who ask about certain titles. Universal Pictures gave me one of those 9-foot Incredible Hulk statues they made to promote the 2008 film, it was massive, sitting in the crate on it's side was the only way I could fit it in my garage but ultimately there was no way I could display it so a guy on Craigslist bought it for his barn.

That is a great story.

In the 90s I used to work for the head office of Warner Bros. publicity department. This involved mailing out one sheets to all of the theatres in the country. We had huge slide drawers that would fit one sheets and there was quite a supply of them.

We also printed the advanced screening tickets and sent them out to radio stations and other studios like Disney, Universal, etc. They would also send us free screening tickets so basically there were always free movie tickets lying around on someone's desk.

For me it was a labour of love, but for most everyone else it was just a 9 to 5 job.

We also got to run some of the local screenings so I would go into the theatre ahead of time and place stickers on random seats so that those people could win a prize.

Needless to say, I was in one sheet heaven during my stint there.

That is a really neat story. When I was in high school (mid 2000's) the local theater by me would sell their old movie posters for $4 each. I had a bunch of fun ones, I have no idea what happened to those. But now that I have a home theater in my basement missing those posters.

One of the other things I used to collect were lobby cards.

As a kid, I remember standing outside a theatre, sometimes for over an hour, waiting in line to buy tickets or for seating for the next show.

The theatre would have lobby cards on display outside the theatre next to the one sheets. I would look at them and wonder how these scenes would fit in the movie that I'm about to watch.

When the movie is over, I would pass the same lobby cards and then it all made sense.

There was a warehouse in Toronto, Ontario called Consolidated-something. In the 80s, they had tons of movie posters and lobby cards for sale for just about every movie that passed through Toronto. The collector's items then were things like GONE WITH THE WIND and CITIZEN KANE, etc.

They were less interested in newer movies like STAR WARS or THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. It was a massive place that was not really a retail store, more like a giant warehouse with 100' ceilings.

The guy there was really nice and had a lot of stories to tell. I would buy a lot of my posters there.

I remember seeing a REVENGE OF THE JEDI advance sheet, but he said that it was recalled and it went for $100 or something like that. That was a lot of money back then for a 'piece of paper'.

Nevertheless, I've seen the price of that poster increase over the years. No idea what it goes for now.

One thing I did manage to get was a one-sheet checklist of STAR WARS posters by L'Affiche or something like that. I thought it was cool to see all of the STAR WARS poster styles available up until then.

Ah yes the Revenge of the Jedi days. I remember there was a small promotional newspaper that a company in Yuma Arizona produced when it was still called Revenge and I bought half a dozen of them, had photos from the filming and various info. I ended up selling them many many years ago, wish I still had them. In my personal poster collection I had the originals for SW, ESB, ROTJ and also an original anniversary screenprint poster by Struzan that was signed and numbered, but had the original Revenge of the Jedi teaser (with date as the w/o date one is a bit rarer). I had Mark Hamil sign it back in the early 90's and he said he was floored to see one. Flash forward to around 1999 a buyer overseas in the UK made me an offer I could not refuse to buy my original SW posters including m signed Revenge.

I recently found a signed Star Wars Trilogy CD soundtrack by John Williams amongst my things, my late uncle who passed away around 1999 was in charge of the Hollywood Bowl and was friends with Williams and he told me to come down anytime if I wanted to meet him or anyone else but a severe fear of flying prevented me from doing so. So he had me send the CD down and had JW sign it. He was the absolute best, miss him every day.
