You should definitely check out the Spicediver edit. It uses some of the tv version scenes, doesn't mess up the music and has some other edits that really help bring it closer to the book.

As it's online it's not perfect 1080p but it's more than watchable.

I like both cuts, but I slightly prefer the theatrical cut. Ideally, I would like to have the theatrical cut with some of the scenes from the extended cut along with the nothing cut for violence and the blue within blue eyes fixed.

The cut I recommended above does most of what you ask.

Can you pm me a link to it? I have probably seen the theatrical and extended cuts about a couple hundred times each so this sounds interesting.

This is a film that I wish Lynch would go back at some point and give it another edit with all existing footage. I know, wishful thinking on my part. This has remained my favorite novel since I was a boy and I still enjoy the film in any version.

Same here. I saw the film on TV when I was about 5. Since then I have had the following releases:

VHS (Widescreen)
VHS (2 Tape Extended Cut)
DVD
HD DVD
BD
DE BD

I ended up reading the novel a couple times in my teens and liked it even more than the film.

They are really good until about book 4. After 3 they kind of get preachy and droning IMHO.

I found book three a slog; lots of philosophical ramblings but book four I really enjoyed. Who would've thought
[Show spoiler]a worm/man hybrid
could be such a compelling character.

If a new Dune movie or series happens (now that Legendary have the rights) I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on potential casting.

Tom Hardy for Duncan Idaho!

Yeah, that's a good choice. I think Fassbender would make a great Gurney Halleck.

What about the PC games? DUNE, DUNE II, DUNE 2000, and there was another one but I don't remember the name of it. PlayDOSGamesOnline.com should have the first two to play since they're Abandonware. The mini-series was decent I thought too. I should still own this on DVD (2-Disc or Flipper DVD Metalpak), custom version DVD, and HD DVD. Considering importing the DE BD sometime eventually. Within the next 6 months.
I've the main 6 DUNE books by Frank Herbert in paperback and the entire series plus tie-ins on e-book in epub format. Last I read the first book in full was around 20 years ago or more.

I've yet to watch Jodorowsky's DUNE but I know tons about the production hell on that.

Going to keep spitting out names for my casting of a remake, apologies if the posts become annoying.

Monica Bellucci as Jessica.

As long as she gets a scene where she's naked.

She doesn't seem to have many inhibitions about that.

Good choice though after Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 he might be bored of sci fi.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jowordowsky's Dune in a completed form.
