UPS will return to sender after the 3rd delivery attempt. Also if you sign on the back of the UPS slip and stick it on the door they will leave the package seating outside and you are responsible for the package if it gets stolen.

Not to mention if you get a damaged panel, you'll want to inspect it before signing off on it. I know some places are more lenient on exchange policies for damaged products but why eat the return shipping charges if you can just refuse delivery if it does have damage? Just a thought.

I plan to break mine in and use D-Nice's Pure settings. Are you using any specific settings just for the break-in or are you just using a default mode like "pure"?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm still new to the world of Kuro.
I will break it in all day and turn it off when I go to bed, also I will try not to watch anything during the process. Over on AVSforum there is a DNice Kuro Break In thread with different settings per Kuro model. I don't know how to post a link or I would. The 500M Break In setting is set on "Sport" and has modified picture controls. If you can, go over there and try to find it. hope this helped

Yeah, I would change my plans so I could wait for the TV, don't want to take any chances with a TV like that sitting on your porch for a few days

Thanks buddy. That's a good price and gets kuro's in the hands of people that normaly would not drop the retail price of $4,000 - $7,000. It's a sweet thing with the prices were seeing. I hope Pioneer get back in the plasma game some day cause I can't "do" LCD or LED-LCD for that matter.

I hear that. I don't know if they could improve much more on their plasmas. They squeezed all they could out of the technology, IMO. The economy is what killed them. There's a narrow market for $5000 displays. The average Joe can sleep much easier at night with a Panasonic hanging on their wall that cost less than half the price of the Elites.

Maybe they'll come back and master another technology someday. I seriously doubt they'll stamp the Kuro name on an inferior product.

Yeah Sonny, I really hope Pioneer regroups and gets back in the game because I really can't see myself buying an LCD. Thats why I bought 2 Kuros this year because I want the best

Well, it arrived today.

Broken.

And signed for...

The driver and I turned on the monitor standby, then power which resulted in a loud buzzing, then immediately shutting off. The standby button is now flashing red, so we spent the entire time troubleshooting that through customer service and the manual. The driver said after 1/2 hour he'd have to charge me more. So the CS rep decided to send a Pioneer rep out at no charge to fix the set. Well after I sign off on the delivery ticket - I FIND 2 CRACKS!@ We spent so much time trying to trouble shoot the set that the cracks were over looked (they are very hard to detect - holding the flashlight at an angle is how I found them). Called Abe's about it, and they seem like they'll take care of me. I'm waiting on a reply email back, so that's where the situation is.

Talk about a crappy situation!

Pics of the breaks are below. I can see how Sarge missed his as they are very difficult to pick up on. I'll let you guys know how it turns out...

Good Luck man. Who delivered it?

Ya it sucks! lol

I doubt they'll be sending that Pio rep out now, since I've informed them of the screen damage - which may or may not be causing the monitor issues.

Because I bought from Abe's, I knew they've had a less than stellar track record going in, but I'm confident it'll all work out in the end. The guy on the phone mentioned getting a claim going as soon as he received some damage photos, which I sent in right away. I think it'll all be OK, but I'm afraid I won't have a watchable KURO for at least 3 weeks.

Rude Transportation Co. delivered my set, no pallet, but strapped to the side of the truck with nothing even close to it.

If I don't hear from Abe's by Thursday, I'll give them a call to see what the remedy will be. One thing is for certain though, it is a beautiful set!

Damn Drew I really hope this works out in your favor. Yes it's sad to see such a pretty TV damaged like that.did you happen to buy an extended warranty with it? What TV stand did you get? I wanted the glossy black stand but I got a black brushed metal looking one with mine. On Saturday I'm going to the HDTV Sootout at VE to see how our 500M performs against all the other sets. I have a feeling she'll win again
