Oh, you were referring to DRC, gotcha now. I've seen specific Dialog Enhancement features on the Panasonic standalones that were separate from DRC so I wanted to be sure that a similar option wasn't on the PS3 and enabled somewhere. I'm bitstreaming the Slim at the moment anyway so DRC wouldn't apply.

The Slim shipped with 2.76, however I updated it to 2.80. The internet update method didn't prompt with 3.0, so perhaps maybe I had to complete 2.80 first? I wasn't aware 3.0 was out, so I'll try to update again tonight and see if it's there. Thanks for the tip on that.

Also, regarding the modification issue, it's just a generic question applied to all consoles, as some can be modded to various degrees. Technically, if you had upgraded your PS3's hard drive, you modified it.

Just becareful when you are meeting a stranger for a purchase on craigslist because a friend of mine was selling his IPHONE on craigslist, meet the buyer in broad daylight in a public mall and he was still robbed at gunpoint!!

Luckily all that coward took was my friend iphone.

Ok, I was ready to go grab one at BB and I stopped and thought about it. I have the 80 Gig version (About 1 year old). I do not use it for Blu as I have 3 other stand alone blu ray players. I don't mind spend the $300 if it really is a great leap forward but it the same sense I do not want to just waste money either.

Suggestions are always appreciated...

Crazy! I'm glad for your friend that it was nothing more than losing the phone.

I happened to do a face-to-face transaction just over the weekend on an item I listed on Audiogon. Now I've sold tons of stuff on the Recyler in the past, but after the last 5 years on not having done face-to-face transactions I was completely iffy on meeting the buyer. Thankfully everything went well, and actually when I saw the buyer with his dog I knew right away he was being cautious as well so that eased my tension.

I agree CL is risky, especially if you're selling higher priced items. I want to sell my 40GB PS3 on CL but I'm not sure the $200 I would ask for it, is worth the risk of getting jacked. In this case, I may go the Ebay route and keep it as a 2nd unit.

I picked up the PS3 Slim at BB along with the new Batman game and I got a free $10 gift card. I will not use the PS3 Slim as Blu-ray player or DVD player, because I have the Pioneer BDP-320 blu-ray. Also I can't wait to use it on my Panasonic 46G15 Plasma TV that I ordered this morning and it shoud arrive next week.

if you're in the Detroit area my store(Allen Park) has a ton of 120gb slims. we're trying to work out some kind of special to push the old ones out the door, like including a greatest hits game of your choice. we already always have a deal with all the ps3 accessories when you buy a system. like, if you buy 3 or more 10% off all of them.
