Richard: The Illusionist is actually already available on BR in Italy. Check the table in the first post to see if it is region-free.

Pro-B -- do you have any info on the upcoming US release of Azur & Asmar?

It's the one US Blu-ray that everyone's been keeping very mum about, as it's neither an anime nor a studio animated title. But I've heard great things about it, and am very interested in owning it. It's supposed to be out in two weeks or so.

It is on track for December 25th release. The Japanese release is using the TF1 master and I assume the same one shall be ported in North America.

It appears that both of those classics will be using the Italian audio only. Mondo have officially listed them on their site. This clearly is disappointing news as I do not foresee US releases any time soon, and even less, a collaboration between MGM and Mondo that may result in porting the same masters for possible A-discs.

Well, that's very bad news. I have no confidence in MGM releasing the trillogy any time soon and even if they did it wouldn't be a top notch transfer judging by their last couple of releases on DVD.

Officially, it has been postponed without a release date for the time being.

Earlier this week, Gaumont (the producer of The Crimson Rivers) announced that they will be joining Paramount Home Ent somewhere in 2008. I think that a number of the impending titles have been stuck by the negociations.

The best way to say it, is that they're in limbo until further news are announced.

Thats disappointing news. Unless of course Paramount come back to BD.

The Recruit and Starsky & Hutch have now been officially announced on Blu-ray by BVHE for a Feb 20, 2008 release in France:

I own the spanish copy of Perfume. Region Free and with english Audio. The image is good but collapses on darker scenes. I think the german version has dts?

I've read on the AVS Forum but I was wondering if you could confirm that The Science of Sleep doesn't have English subtitles. Gaumont's website says it does but others are saying that it's wrong. I would order it in a heartbeat if it did.

from what iv'e read on avs this film has around 70% english subs but some scenes are in french.

im sure crey014 can you fill in more though

I can read Japanese and can confirm there are no English subtitles to Cinema Paradiso.
