Steelbook Prediction Thread-2010 Edition

Carnac predicts that in 10 weeks there will be a re-release of Avatar on blu-ray in Canada and that re-release will come in steelbook form.




In all serious now, really

I just returned from one of my many FutureShop lunch hour trips during which I chatted with my contact at FS where I was informed first that Avatar will get a larger, more stuff, release in 10 weeks and that release will be more than likely, 90%, be in steelbook format at FutureShop.

Beyond that, there will also be a director's cut release sometime this year, as well as a gift set release before Christmas, and the Blu-Ray 3D version will be released in 2011.

Take all that for what it is worth, but my contact is in a "know" position and has been very reliable with me so far.

Crash, you are dating yourself -- and me -- by using the Johnny Carson picture!

I've been reading a lot of articles on AVATAR and this is the first I've heard of another release in 10 weeks. That would put it right around Canada Day (July 1 for those reading from the colonies here).

What I have read direct from Cameron is that there will be 6 additional minutes of footage added for a Fall 2010 theatrical re-release.

Then, there will be the re-release of the DVD/BD in Winter 2010 (non-3D version).

Cameron has also stated that he sees AVATAR as an 'evolving' movie meaning he can change it any time at will and re-release it going forward.

I'm a little skeptical about another 10-week re-release, but would be happy to welcome another Future Shop SteelBook! I'm hoping it would have different art as I've seen the same art for all of the amarays and SteelBooks so far.

Either way, I only spent $14.99 on my BD copy from Future Shop so I'm not going to sweat it.

4 disc is coming in November(hopefully that doesnt mean Jumbo SteelBook) I am almost 100% positive there wont be a re-release in July, a theatrical re-release, yes, but Ill get back to this post in 10 weeks, until then carry on

I am a little skeptical as well, and when I reiterated the "10 weeks" back, I received a nod of disbelief as they could not believe it either.

I am about 50/50 on this one as I had only heard of releases later on in the year, but as I think we have all learned, in the world of steelbooks, anything is possible.

I would tend to agree that the likelyhood seems pretty slim on the steelbook release in 10 weeks, but after thinking a little, the more stuff does not necessarily have to be more disk content, it could be goodies similar to the UK. It very well could be a steelbook release with the same BD disc inside, similar to last year's Disney's

I don't think it was ever even a rumor. On the FS forum, there was some catalogue blu-ray release titles spoken about in the same post as upcoming steelbooks from FS and some assumed that the catalogue titles would also be coming as steelbooks

I personally think Kick Ass will get one, possibly in a few different countries.

Futureshop would probably get in on it - which would be excellent.

Obviously Inception will get a mutiple release steelbook as well.

But aside from the new releases, i'm really hoping some countries pull out some region free releases of some catalog titles, and re-releases of some DVD steelbook exclusives.

Brana said in a post on the FS forums that he was trying to get a SPR steelbook for may, but couldn't promise anything. nothing else was ever said about it after that, so he probably couldn't get it done.

ha, who this you hear from? These guys here This thread is no more than a Wishlist thread and the members here stated they wished certain ones would be released however there is no merit to any of it.

I'm not even sure if a second wave will ever be made, they didn't sell very well in the US even if they did great in Canada. (don't tell me it's because nonody knew they were coming to the States because even the last released up here are OOP)

Let's hope a second run is coming to make the first titles more popular, I have a sh**load to sell.
