I noticed some people have 2 subs hooked up to the 605, how do you do that with only 1 sub output?

Thx

WiFi might interfere (radio interference) with the sensitive paths.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but it is more of a challenge in something that is trying to maintain the highest fidelity of its signals.

i updated my 605 myself. basicly they send you a file that you burn to CD and update the 605 via the optical input. works a treat and takes about 15 seconds.

Not sure about that unit, but the sub output on my receiver is standard analog RCA. If the 605 is the same, you can use a $2 splitter from radio shack with no issues at all.

I'm surprised that all makers don't put a USB port on their equipment nowdays. They could play music off it and make it a feature, and use that for firmware upgrades.

It's my understanding that it was one of several corners they cut to keep the price low (also, only 2 HDMI ports and no learning remote). I guess being first to market had it's advantages in this case. They sold a ton of these things (myself included). I love it, although I do wish it had more power.

yep, you gotta connect a seperate CD player and it plays a .wav file that updates the reciever. there a couple of button presses to do before hand and the amp has to be in CD mode for it to work via optical.

I emailed Onkyo UK who sent out the firmware and instruction via email attachment. was really easy and saves the hassle of sending it in to update.

Its the way they do it if you send it in.

Default TX-SR605 PS3 BLU-RAY 7.1 sound

hi all,

i am new here and i am confused with playing 7.1 audio movies on my 605 through ps3...

even though when i click display on the ps3 itll say its 7.1, i dont hear any backchannels and when i click on display on the receiver, itll say MCH PCM 5.1

how can i get it to MCH PCM 7.1?? I would have thought itd change automatically if its a 7.1 movie

605 cannot take 5.1 PCM and turn it into 7.1 PCM. You need to go to a higher up receiver to do that.

if you have a 7.1 surround sound system and playing a 7.1 blu, you should get 7.1. BUT it depends on what your playing. some dts ma discs will only play 5.1 even though its 7.1. just a few.

exactly. those discs will not output 7.1. some dts ma discs that are encoded with 7.1 cannot output it. its the way that the dts is encoded on these certain discs that the ps3 doesnt decode right. its only on maybe 6 discs that i know of. those are two.

what i think the first responder meant was that you cannot matrix 5.1 into 7.1. but i dont know about that cause i dont have a 605
