Well I decided that I was just going to return this to amazon for a full refund. If the lack of invert issue gets fixed I will rebuy it.

In the mean time I will continue to push for a patch.

So if anyone opens this thread and is interested in buy it and plays using inverted controllers settings my advice is simple:

Avoid until it gets fixed.

Playstation Lifestyle released their review. Pretty fair, and they make a point to emphasize the lack of invert is a potential gamebreaker, just like Merrick's been saying. Hopefully it gets a patch...

I am just glad that Amazon gave me a full refund. There is no excuse for leaving out a feature that the majority of gamers use. I tried playing it on normal to see if I could get used to it. It just doesn't work for me.

Thanks.

According to a post over at gamefaqs, it's true.

Thats where I got my info, but no one else can confirm it. A person who is playing the UK disc apparently doesn't have the patch.

Not even at the Ubisoft forums has anyone reported it.

Right now it looks like a prank.

EDIT: I just called Ubisoft tech support and they told me the game has not been patched.

So I have no choice but to call BS on the previous poster.

Well it appears that the poster who made the original claim of a patch IS telling the truth.

He was kind enough to post screenshots:

The poster said he had the PSN versions in the UK.

I would just like to get some confirmation if this has been done in the US, because I am ready to buy these ASAP!!

Hi Merrick,

Sorry to disappoint, but as of 5 minutes ago the US release has not been patched. I just popped in the disc, and no patch downloaded, and there is no invert option available in-game. Maybe the US network will have the patch at a later date.

I only played through the first Splinter Cell HD so far, but overall I was pretty disappointed with Ubisoft's efforts. The lack of invert didn't bother me, as that is not how I play, but there were plenty of other problems I saw with this release. Horrendous frame-rates, especially near any fire effects (worse FPS hiccups than when I popped in my original Splinter Cell game into my 360 to compare). It seems to me they didn't put much effort (if any) into optimizing the game engine for PS3 hardware.

Also, it appears to me that they simply took the letterboxed 4:3 cutscenes, and simply stretched them horizontally to fit 16:9. Everyone looks rather fat... I forced my television into 4:3 mode during some scenes and the height/width of the characters looked to be in the correct ratio. When they could have cropped the letterboxing and made the video true widescreen but didn't, well, I was a bit upset by this. They also seem to have simply stretched the 4:3 menu screens and loading screens rather than have someone rework them into 16:9. I didn't expect them to re-render CG cutscenes to a higher resolution, but to simply stretch them was just bad.

Ubisoft has taught me a valuable lesson. I will never again preorder an HD 'remake' on PS3 again, and will wait for reviews, even on old favorites like the rumored FFX HD remaster (not sure if this title was confirmed?). After playing the first Splinter Cell I even immediately cancelled my preorder for Metal Gear Solid HD. Yeah, it's a different company, but I seriously felt burned after playing SC.

As a huge fan of the first three Splinter Cell games back in the day, this release was, in my opinion, severely lacking in quality control, and a real disappointment and missed opportunity.

I was well aware of all the negatives in regard to frame rate and that is stuff I could live with just to be able to play these again and earn trophies but no invert makes playing impossible. Ill be happy if they do that. At least I think I will...

Fair enough. I'll try to keep checking for a patch. If I see one I'll post an update.

My opinion could change though. Many of the people who have no issues with lack of invert do say that other issues upset them.

I hope I get the chance to judge for myself.

Has anyone played these yet?

They did patch in an Invert option and I played it and LOVED it. I just got the platinum for the first game.

It got a lot of negative reviews, but it played well for me and I had no issues.

I had no trouble with trophies popping and/or corrupted saves.

So if anyone is interested in replaying the old Splinter Cell games in HD Id give this set a chance.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com...game-listings/

The Ultimate Splinter Cell collection has been listed by retailers.

I have no idea what this will contain, but IF and IF it contains the xbox version of Double Agent, I will happily buy this. Its certainly possible that tghe PS3 will finally see the release of Conviction.

Just to remind everyone, the xbox/PS2 and 360/PS3 versions of Double Agent are two COMPLETELY different games. See the early pages of this thread for a description.

Many argued that the xbox/ps2 version was superior. Including me.

I bought this thinking it was an upscale of the actual PS2 game, only to find out it's just a port of the PC games. I really just wanted the PS2 version, as it's a bit different from the Xbox version, both graphically and the stage layouts. So I just recently purchased Chaos Theory for that fact alone. I now own the first 3 games for both Xbox and PS2.
