I'm glad WB is using the theatrical poster as the cover art. Creepy as hell

Better than the crowded mess the last banner was.

I can't wait to hear how the sound design works on ye BLU, saw the film last nite and a couple of scenes the low end was the most intense Id ever heard in a theatre for this type of film. Curious how the BLU audio will do.

Wife and I decided to pass on this one at the theater. I'm going to blind buy it for Halloween. Seems like studios often miss the point of Halloween and release very few horror flicks at that time. Looking at IMDB, I only see the remake of Carrie being released in October.

According to early box office estimates the film has only dropped 47% in its second weekend which is a good sign for the films word of mouth. I also have to say even with some flaws the film may have ESP discussed as spoilers in this thread I can't recall a scarier film in recent years. It's pacing is what saves the films and the casting.

Word of mouth? I'd say there's zero word of mouth on this flick right now.

No word of mouth?
Everyone that I know that has seen it has been talking about it and doting on it, even those that were dragged to it that usually hate "scary" movies.
It is holding at 85 fresh at Rotten tomatoes which is pretty unheard of for a movie like this.
I am looking forward to adding it into my cycle this fall.

This film will definitely become a Halloween staple for my friends and I. Not only a great horror film, but a well-made film all around. James Wan has become one of my favorite horror directors.

Day one purchase for me! I really loved this film and I am not even a huge horror fan but this movie was really well done. I think this is one of the better horror movies of this generation.

I'd say the Evil Dead reboot thing had more word of mouth, but that tanked.

I think you're getting "buzz" and "word of mouth" mixed up. "Buzz" is typically before a movie is released, which I agree that the Evil Dead reboot certainly had more of that. "Word of mouth" comes after a movie is released, and since the Evil Dead didn't do all that well, clearly it didn't have great word of mouth. The Conjuring has had a lot of good word of mouth following its release. For a R-rated horror movie to have only dropped off 47% in its second weekend is really good, especially when it's able to hold onto the number two spot with multiple fairly well-reviewed family films out during the summer (Despicable Me 2 and Turbo).

Evil Dead reboot did not have word of mouth, it had a marketing machine pushing it down people's throats.
It had Bruce Campell hired to try to convince people that were hating it because it was not the originals that "hey it's ok, we are in on this so it is ok to like it really, we are completely in on this" which is true because I am sure they got some kind of licensing for selling their souls for such a complete piece of shit.
And then you had catch phrases being tossed out in marketing "the most terrifying movie you will ever see" and things like that, which was all canned hype, but not one person I ever spoke to ever had anything to say about it and not one person that I know who ended up seeing it during its run had a nice thing to say about it.
I think the nicest was "It wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be".
That is not word of mouth.

Yeah this movie has plenty word of mouth, and that shows in how strong of a second weekend it had at the box office.

Saw this movie last Sunday night and I must say even with the few flaws that I though the film had I ended up loving it. I dont spook to easily and this was one of the creepiest films I have seen in quite some time. Easily oine of the best horror films this year and the past few James Wan always succeeds in making a great horror film that can scare or creep me out. I look forward to owing this on blu and watching it as part of my Halloween horror movie marathon. The sound should be great on blu
