For proof just look at all the polls going on over there. all of them are pro-hddvd. there are actually people over there that think hd dvd will win the nielson week even though spider-man just debuted.
Nfinity was by far the worst of them all. There were rare occasions that Lee Stewart, MichaelHDDVD and Kosty (although I am a little peaved that he started the "WB is having a major press release" rumor, which turned out to be BOGUS) could make points and have a decent conversation. Nfinity, however, would just jump into every thread and just start a bluray hatefest and talk about how Sony was corrupting the world and would only use data that supported his opinion (ala cite Netflix as PROOF that bluray was losing), while there was plenty of better data.

Nobody could send a thread to hell quicker than Nfinity. My favorite post by him was along the lines of:
"If Warner went bluray exclusive it would go against everything they stand for"

That post is an alltime CLASSIC.

As for rdjam:

rdjam was rdjam. His goal was to promote HD-DVD and he did just that.

I was challenged by some legal person from Microsoft, for my quotes about Microsoft shills posting on AVS last week. I received the PM and he wanted me to prove who these people are. It's almost impossible, since they either say they are not employed by MS or Toshiba or just won't answer the question. Their silence is the answer. Who needs the Microsoft legal department after them for slander. I refuse to deal with these prics right now at AVS!

My all time favourite quote that I gave Rdjam was this, when he posted contrary to what the thread was about.

Rdjam: Yawn...

yeah but rdjam could never give BDA credit for anything. he has started so many threads about "this week hd dvd turns it around" or my favorite "transformers really did win the nielson week". they're the type of folks that if universal and warner went blu exclusive they would still think hd dvd is "gaining momemtum".

You know what I wonder... how can Kosty afford to continue to support HD DVD? Who would want it from them? There is no way they could compete with that $99 deal from wal mart.

And I have to imagine that they lost a lot of potential sales that day. Did they(kosty's store) even try to match the $199 HD-A3 deal with 2 in box and 3 more movies+ 5 free deal at best buy?

As someone who was slowly becoming an AVS refugee (and to be honest, my posts on AVS the last few weeks were getting less...patient) I want to throw whatever weight my opinion carries ( ) behind Darin's statements. Most of the mods and the ownership of AVS (as shown by how the rest of the boards are run...I have not personally communicated to them) want to run a fair an open board. They have failed in the HDM section, but hopefully this will get better now.

And in the mean time these boards are a breath of fresh air

I wonder if these guys have even seen an HD DVD movie, since they seem to post over 1000 times a month. How do they have time to complete a full showing?

I have never visited that site, but it sounds like from our members here that if you even mention blu ray, you get attacked? so if they are saying they are not picking sides, then not a true statement. Again many of you have stated they are very pro hd dvd. Does that include the mods as well? or just members?

I keep trying to get Rdjam and some of the others to make a bet, when they think HD DVD has the week in the bag. I ask them to make this bet:

If HD DVD wins this week, I will not post here for one month.

If Blu Ray wins, you do not post here for one month.

As you probably know, no takers. Rdjam was going to take that bet on Transformers week, but backed out. He was lucky, because the next day, the buy one get one sale was announced.

I'm glad they did this.

That side deserved better then what was going on. They should remove those sections completely.

HD DUD-ers are getting pissed off about losing but it's thier fault for not doing the research up front. Sadly,.. they are an ignorant lot and they get pretty mean about it.

The mods tilt toward HD DVD. There is an organized method, used by Amir's followers to stifle any good news from Blu Ray. Come up with any good news, you get an all out effort to discredit you. They use PM's to co-ordinate their attacks and you better have your facts beside you. If you counterattack any of their positions, then you get all of these carpetbombers picking you apart and if you get angry or say something that is off of the topic, they report you to the admins. They either erase your posts, give you demerit points or outright suspend you. Any polls that are issued always are at least 2 - 1 in favour of the HD DVD position. In the real world, it's 2 - 1 in Blu Ray's favour. So that makes it a four fold number of HD DVD supporters to Blu Ray, over there. It gets bloody, when going to war with these bastards!

Hopefully this will work out for the best. AVS was full of the largest amounts of FUD anywhere on the internet, and also the most vicious fanboys. It will be nice for them to take a breather. I do, however, still take exception to their "we are neutral-- it's not our fault HD-DVD came out first so it's more popular here" crap. Why always post negative Blu-ray stories as headlines then, and not most of the HD-DVD ones? Why let Amir run rampant while Blu-ray people like paidgeek are repeatedly abused by him? Why have Amir speak on behalf of them at their conference? The list continues. But perhaps in shutting down for awhile, not only can the fanboys cool off, but maybe the site admins can too. Heck, I think they'd be best off waiting to reopen until the war is over. I worry a little about what this will do to this forum, and I feel bad for people at Hidefdigest, where probably the HD boys will flock to.

This might make you feel better about him. He asked Amir if he could take his HD DVD drive apart and put it inside the XBOX360, since it was bothering him to have 2 boxes. Amir told nfinity that he couldn't do that. So, just picture nfinity being frustrated that Microsoft was against offering the choice of an all-in-one solution. People can complain all they want about Sony not offering the choice of a PS3 without Blu-ray, but at least they offered the choice of a high end all-in-one unit that can not only play games, but is a great player and can actually do multichannel lossless or uncompressed audio (instead of converting it to lossy or 2 channel like the XBOX360 add-on does). Maybe his frustration with his choice of the XBOX360 with separate add-on is one of the reasons he does the things he does.

I think you have Kosty confused with Robert of Value Electronics. Robert is famous for claiming that upscaled DVD in his HD DVD player looked about the same as Blu-ray (or maybe it was as good as) and then having to apologize later by saying that he had drank too much and was wrong. I never could get Robert to come clean on his claims about how many HD DVD players around a year ago that couldn't have been true based on how many Toshiba said they sold later.

I can answer that, cause HD DUD"s have less of a selection to pick from. For example I watched Cars today, did they? lol

Ahh, Robert....Another wonderful FUD pusher over there. You see him at some of these conferences, supporting the HD DVD's position, then he goes around telling people that he really is neutral, since he sells both. A total hypocrite, if there ever was one!

The acolytes probably played Punch Buggy. That's as close to Cars as they probably ever got today. Now they have time to actually see the sunlight, for a change.

This is a good thing.

Hopefully the AVS forums won't be taken over by all the fanboys on both sides. It was out of control for months.

While its down, you can bet the traffic here will be up big time.

Thats ok, maybe we will get a few more blu-converts during the time AVS is down.

Hey look! Somewhere I can post about Blu-Ray without fear of reprisal!

So glad to see the usual suspects at AVS have been given a "time out".

I'm format neutral, and I usually don't inject myself into the crap that goes on there, but once in a while I see one of these knuckleheads say something unusually stupid, and I just have to get into it.

Also, I noticed Robert from ValueElectornics was fairly mum during the Walmart thing. There's no way he can afford to match what the big box retailers are doing.

For all the guy has tried to do for HD DVD, how do the hardcore HD DVD guys over there thank him? By berating him about WHEN WHEN WHEN will he update his site to match Walmart. Pathetic. They don't care how much money the guy loses as long as they get their player dirt cheap. Classic.

I'll never understand why people who can't stand to spend more than $200 on a player will shell out $40 to get a US BD-exclusive title on HD DVD import. It's a sickness.
