You'll also see the production delay notice on the HD-DVD ultimate collectors edition except that it doesn't even show it as being sold by amazon. The blu-ray non ultimate collectors edition shows as sold out with the production notice. I still think blu-ray is on top of hd-dvd when it comes to this title.

Maybe the "production delay" is that they're busy putting the red discs back in the red boxes and the blu discs back in the blu boxes..

I, as well, found no BR stock for Bladerunner in the Santa Ana BB store this evening. The rest of 1.5 shelf-aisles were well in stock for other BR titles, so it's not like BB is playing it conservative with ordering stock.

The .5 shelf aisle for hdvd, otoh, had a whopping 5 copies of Bladerunner + 1 briefcase. I also spotted 3 copies in the dvd section.

Seems like Warner has shorted BR shipments all around, imo.

Boy, I cant WAIT to see the spin for this:

HD-DVD camp will say that this lack of availability is due to "production issues" and is the final straw to make warner go hd-dvd exclusive.

bluray camp will say that this is proof of how much more popular the film is on bluray and warner underestimated demand.

Let the FUDfest begin

I still think it is not them really having sold out as they have a missing shipment. Since I have T3, That Entertainment and BR all ordered and none of them shipped. But Simpsons and Underdog did. So something is either late or lost, take your pick as to which one.

I don't mind the delay as long as i get the correct five discs. This can be spun two ways. The first more positive, ie they just did not expect to sell so many. I don't worry about the negative spin.

As mentioned before I pre-ordered it on Aug 25.
I realized that I had chosen Standard Shipping
So I changed that to Two-Day Shipping and now Amazon is preparing my shipment and expected delivery is Friday the 21st.

well, after my EVER first time viewing this movie, I'd like someone to tell me just what EXACTLY make this movie so good, and this kinda hype? there were times i thought to myself, "God, this is stupid; yeah for the time back in 1982 it might be cool visual and concept, but the story and the acting? oh come on, this must be a joke!!!!!!!"

i'm sure lot of u out there must be loving this movie and have a lot to say about it, so please, let me know the reason why this movie is "so good", thanks!

Yesterday I emailed Amazon, asked about my order, told them it was too close to the holidays to be worrying about shipping and that I was considering canceling my order---that was before I went hunting at my local B&Ms & came home empty.
Last night they responded, saying it would be shipping today.
I didn't order the briefcase, though, just the 5-disc Complete Collectors edition.

DragonSarc: Blade Runner was released in the summer of 1982, a little more than 2 years before Terminator.

1982, to me this is VERY VERY OK movie, kinda wasting time slow paced, poorly directed, thought out movie. and the action senses, oh god dont even get me start on that, just brutal, a 1970's Bruce Lee movie can kick its ass, so dont use "it's an old movie" as an exucse!!!

It's Sam Spade meets the Jetsons in this dark tale of a not so pleasant but believable future. At the time and space this movie was released, people were starved for good sci-fi and it became an instant classic.

Now, it's an old friend you like to visit now and again. It was cutting edge and let you truly escape from the meager world in which you lived.

Maybe Harrison Ford isn't the actor Humphrey Bogart was, but at the time, he didn't have to be. He was however a much better actor in this than he was in Star Wars, which if we're going to discuss bad acting, Star Wars only rates slightly above the pathetic jaunt Logan's Run gave us of the future.

If the film doesn't succeed for you on its merits, I doubt any amount of spoon-fed interpretation will change your mind. But you might well change your mind eventually.

When it came out I thought it was long, boring, unfocused---kinda like how I felt about 2001. I fell asleep before it was over---like 2001.

25 years later it's one of my 3 favorite science fiction films, and I think on a short list of the more important & influential SF movies ever made---like 2001.

Now give me Alien, that I may hear the wailing of the masses in their armchairs---"...the grain..."

But seriously, I pre-ordered Blade Runner 2 1/2 weeks before I bought the PS3. 5 cuts in 1080p for the same price as Robocop? Whaddahbahgain! Thanks, Warner.

Checked my order with Amazon this morning and its status has been updated to "shipping soon". (I ordered the non-suitcase set)

My guess is that because of Holiday Shippings, Amazon was notified that some of their orders from Warner would be delayed (at least for some items). Rather than wait to see what was actually received, they put up the "production delay" notice on the item to explain why it may not be available "right now" before Christmas.

If it's any sign of the poularity of this title, yesterday when I was considering canceling my Amazon order and picking it up locally, the Best Buy's in my area had the set as available. This morning it is not in stock at any of them.

My order is shipping from Amazon now so I know I have a copy on the way.
