A lot of Subscribers to this site say exactly that. Hollywood sucks, there's no good movies any more, nothing but superhero movies, on and on.
Now I'm just 1 person who agrees with you in your statement, but I believe many of us agree with you.
Yeah. Filtering my collection to only 2010's movies shows me quite a few classics even just on the first couple pages: John Wick, Wolf of Wall Street, Ex Machina, Nightcrawler, Kingsman, Sicario, etc. Tons of great movies coming out, even if a lot of the blockbuster stuff isn't as great as it used to be.

I feel the majority of what comes out of Hollywood these days is crap.

However, it's nice to see that occasionally Hollywood is still capable of producing a film such as "Hell or High Water".

I just think that's an insane exaggeration/generalization, but I don't want to fight about it.

You want an amazing gas station beating scene then you should check out Homefront, with Jason Statham. It's epic.

"Sad but true," as Metallica says.

I continue to reconcile, on the one hand, my enthusiastic hopes for the format from about 18 months ago with, on the other, Ash "still collating" new info as it comes in. We have a IMO lackluster slate so far from Par (and, to a lesser extent, U). Nothing from Disney (rumours of Force Awakens in 2017?). Lionsgate is supporting UHD BD but pictures before Hell (Sicario) and after (Arrival; Deepwater Horizon) have all been announced for UHD BD while Hell has not despite it being a critical success. Will Oscar noms change the situation?

I had wanted to think of this as a(n) (single studio) anomaly. But we've since gotten word (and you commented on the News item) of a 20th anni Jerry Maguire on 1080 BD only. And that's from Sony (at least the electronics side of the company is making a player available, albeit bundled exclusively with one of their higher end 4k displays).

I had been holding out some hope that the new format would occasion a sea change of greater studio support for catalog titles. Not so sure any longer. It's hard to know whether or not one should wait 6 months after the release of some titles on 1080 BD to see if a UHD is in the offing. Here's hoping for greater clarity in 2017.

Ugh, banding rears its ugly head on this disc, but it's Lionsgate. Kinda noisy, too. But otherwise the disc looks fine, maybe a little brighter than it was theatrically but I don't mind. Audio is solid. The Q&A is the only good extra, rest are meh.

Movie is still excellent.

It's perfectly normal for these companies to pick the movies they think will sell better on UHD for these early-adopter releases. We know the format is doing better than expected and making money, which is the reason we're seeing as many UHD releases as we are, but it's still a brand new format early in its life and not every release is automatic. I don't think it's a cause for skepticism, anger or anything else. It is what it is.

And I was responding to your opinion, trying to have a discussion, because I thought it was really extreme and wanted to hear more thoughts on it. That's how forums work. You seem really offended I would even ask though, for whatever reason, which was not my goal.

I finally got to see this one. Very very good, but it didn't quite live up to all the hype. Chris Pine seems like he is going to Brad Pitt route to being a very solid actor. Ben Foster is great as always. Bridges continues to do his cowboy schhtick, which works very well in this one but is a bit reminiscent of Crazy Heart. My impression was a movie with many great character moments and acting performances that was missing something small to make it all hang together as an out and out classic.

Just watched this, wasn't as impressed as everyone else. The whole modern western theme just felt cheesy. The strong Texas theme was also very cheesy. Maybe they both go together. Felt like Breaking Bad with Hank and Gomez with the two Rangers. Plus the skank was the bank teller.

The ending with Foster was a let down, felt boring, and just didn't feel real. However I did love the last scene of the film and thought it really tied the movie together. I know people will bash me for this and they are two completely different films, but I was more entertained by Triple 9. I would also put The Town (Director's Cut) Place Beyond the Pines, and Sicario above this film.

Large areas of Texas still today have that cowboy vibe and culture. It's not unrealistic or cheesy at all.

you dont know anything about texas.

for the record. the town extended cut is crap. the scenes are too long and drawn out and ruins the flow.

and first off its NOT the director's cut, ben himself prefers the theatrical after all he did direct it.

Wow, I guess Texas is full of racist, blood thirsty, gun toting, vigilantes. Glad to know not to ever go there, ever.

That's a harsh way to put it, but then again, the slogan is, "Don't mess with Texas." Being a Californian living in TX is fun, although I got a lot more shit in the DFW area and almost none here in Austin.

yeah, Texas is like Arizona. Small town areas can be very "old west" feeling. 80% of the state carries a gun at all times and many of them multiple (especially in the small towns. Down here in Tucson you see a lot of people carrying, but in the smaller towns like Sho-lo or Surprise it's actually weird NOT to see someone carrying a piece). If you've ever been to Texas you'd understand it's not that far off, especially the waitress lol. freaking great state.

you'll find some of the most respectful people in your life living in those small town Texas areas. Not the richest, not the most "cultured", but they'll bend over backwards to help out their neighbors and enjoy life.

I'm cool with the 2nd Amendment, right to bare arms, concealed carry, open carry. I know Texas law lets those people be in their right to shoot at the bank robbers. But these people were just looking for a reason to use their guns. And following the robbers in a convoy looking for a shootout was completely idiotic.

They weren't cops and they were lucky not to be killed by that onslaught of assault rifle fire. Yes a lot of civilians carry guns in Texas, but I feel like this movie blew up Texas stereotypes. You can't really tell me everyone in Texas is that eager to shoot a fleeing bank robber. Especially after they killed people that got in their way.

This movie made people in Texas seem stupid, violent, racist, and crazy.
