Favorite score of the 2010s so far is probably Skyfall, but I'm a Bond nut so take that for what it's worth lol. 127 Hours, Interstellar, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Moonlight, Fury Road, Man from UNCLE, and both the Reznor/Ross/Fincher scores are also up there. Oh, and TFA's score was quite good, too. Not up to par with the preceding Star Wars scores but as far as modern movies go, it's head and shoulders above nearly everything else out there.
Intetesting none of you has mentioned the score for Thor. Particularly the one theme associated to Asgard

Thor's score never really stood out to me. But you mentioning LOTR reminded me that the three Hobbit scores are also stellar. Really well done, maybe only a slight notch or two below the LOTR scores.

A few days ago in the break room at my work, The Perfect Storm was actually playing on the TV. I immediately recognized it by the music alone.

I'd like to think The Grinch and The Perfect Storm are fairly unique. Just in my mind, at that triumphant moment in the cue, it switches over to The Perfect Storm so ...perfectly.

Hell, Lorne Balfe was added to Ghost in the Shell at the end of February/beginning of March, and the official score release was delayed or just canceled because of it. (And I pre-ordered it, too...) Even worse, there were still VFX changes two weeks before it premiered.

Hollywood needs to stop rushing.

In regards to James Horner, I was trying to remember a cue from How The Grinch Stole Christmas (when The Grinch lifts up the sleigh at the top of the mountain) and it wouldn't stop crossing over into a theme from The Perfect Storm.

Still can't remember what exactly either one sounded like, it's just a blur. An enjoyable blur, though.
I loved what Giacchino did on Rogue One, rushed or not, as he's one of the VERY few composers around today who's not afraid to create themes and to revisit them in various forms throughout the film, just like Jazzy Johnny Williams. I think it was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes that had this wonderfully '60s sounding kinda score, I was racking my brains as to who did until I saw the credits and it was Giacchino again. He's one of my absolute favourites at the moment when it comes to delivering classic sounding movie scores, I would honestly rather have him scoring the SW episodes than John Williams, who is a LEGEND but who is also well past his prime IMO.

Hmmm can't say I remember the Rogue One score off the top of my head, but the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes score I did like a good bit.

Rey's theme in Force Awakens is great and shows Williams is still amazing, I just don't think he has the energy to do a full score anymore. They should have him do one composition for each movie, like Rey's Theme.

You seriously prefer his themeless ROGUE ONE score to THE FORCE AWAKENS? Unbelievable.

Giacchino is godawful. The guy is, along with Hans Zimmer and friends, wrecking film music one score at a time.

Zimmer does good work from time to time. Not a big fan of his BIG LOUD ACTION MOVIE SCORES but when he does quieter stuff like 12 Years A Slave or (the relatively quiet) Interstellar, he's still aces. And his Catwoman theme from TDKR is probably the only reason I tolerate that movie's existence lol

No, It's the Spider-Man Legacy UHD thread. It's not his last name, it's not like Phil Spiderman. He's a Spider-Man. You know, like, uh, like Goldman is a last name, but there's no Gold-Man.

Would the Spider-Man Evolution Collection 4K UHD listed on Amazon Italy be the same as the US Spider-Man Legacy Collection 4K UHD? Or is that another collection? It says "5 Blu-Ray 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray", but I don't know if that means 5 UHD and 5 BD discs or 5 discs in total.

It seems weird that when we start getting multi-movie sets that we will end up with 5 UHDs and 5 Blu-rays.

For solo releases it seems not at all odd, but if and when they release an Alien or Star Trek or Marvel Phase 1 sets -- are they really going to throw in an equal (or greater) number of Blu-rays?

Probably! That way they can just keep all the special features on the standard disc!

I've gotten the original trilogy too often. I got the DVDs, Blus, Blus downcoverted from 4k, and now these? I'll probably pass for now. but I assume the first two movies will look the most improved.

The mastered in 4K BD for Spidey 2 looks wonderful but I might buy the 4K again if it actually comes with special features this time around.
