User CP change, Forums/threads being "marked as read" willy-nilly - Page 5 - Blu-ray Forum

For me it’s every forum. It makes it hard to find the actual new posts.

Same. It looks like it goes back to 12/20, where read posts are marked as unread, as far as I can tell. I wish the site would have a feature to allow a user to reset read posts by day/time to at least get back to some normalcy.

It happens now and then, but it’s not a big deal… if threads are sorted by recently updated, then start at the top, check the last page of each thread, and soon you’ll get to a thread with no “actually unread” posts. Once that happens, then under “Quick Links”, select “Mark Forums Read.” Boom.

That might work...for you.

It's still a problem, as the default behavior of the forum has changed, and it won't be "fixed" by any user's preferential "workaround."

Yes don’t get me wrong, it needs to be fixed. I’ve never seen this happen on other forums, and it happens pretty regularly.

Why is this the only forum I use where already-read posts are resurrected as “unread” out of the blue, on a regular basis?

Probably the same reason why it’s the only forum that doesn’t have a mobile-friendly option…

Wondered if there was an existing discussion thread about this issue. Been some months since I last saw up to nearly a dozen thread titles in bold from the top of page 1 of a sub-forum.

Yeah, it's been a while. I largely stay in just the anime subforum, and I saw a lot more bold than normal. Quite the timing too as Otakon was this past weekened so there were a good number of announcements of newly licensed stuff. Like 20+ pages in the Discotek Media thread went from read to unread, and a bunch of pages were added on Saturday and Sunday because of this.
