Wow, I absolutely love everything they’re saying about Resident Evil 9, and I’m thrilled with the direction Capcom is taking! I was genuinely worried that, after the massive success of the Resident Evil 4 remake, they’d revert to a more action-heavy approach. The original RE4 actually marked the beginning of my disinterest in the series for over a decade, everything from the games to the movies and CGI films leaned too far into action for my taste.
The first two PS1 games are still among my all-time favorites (or at the very least, they were my biggest gaming obsession as a teenager :P). It wasn’t until Resident Evil 7 that I truly became a fan again, even though I had played RE4, 5, and 6. I’ve been loving this new era of the franchise ever since. That said, I did feel like Village was starting to lean a bit too much into action again (even though I really enjoyed it, especially that unforgettable giant baby scene!). As for the RE4 remake, I found myself somewhat bored, but to be fair, it’s essentially the same game I never really clicked with in the first place. I honestly expected a RE5 remake next, and feared that RE9 would go full-on over-the-top like RE6 did, trying to cram everything into one game to wrap up the main timeline. I’m so glad to be proven wrong! Fingers crossed the next remake is RE1, it would be the perfect way to conclude the original trilogy. Plus, RE1 is still one of the most terrifying entries in the series to this day. I love both the original PS1 version and the GameCube remake, but I’d be absolutely thrilled to revisit the Spencer Mansion once more with modern visuals and gameplay. |

But to be honest, what I'd like the most is for Capcom to just focus on new mainline entries instead of constantly redoing old games. RE2make was a long-requested project and turned out great, but by now it's a little excessive. |

As for Resident Evil 1, the recent remakes of RE2 and RE3 exist in a different universe from the original PS1 trilogy, and RE1 doesn’t really fit into that continuity, whether it’s the PS1 version or the GameCube remake. A new remake wouldn’t erase the older ones in any way. Plus, the GameCube version came out in 2002, just three years after RE3 and a couple of years before RE4. Even though it’s technically a remake, it’s pretty ancient by today’s standards, haha. Both the GameCube ReMake and the original RE1 on PS1 are among my all-time favorite games, but I’d still be totally on board for a modern remake. Let’s be honest, a modern remake of Resident Evil 1 would generate massive buzz. It would be a huge seller for Capcom. I can’t think of any other title in the Resident Evil series that would spark as much hype if it were remade. Put the team behind the RE2 remake on it, and it’s a guaranteed hit, no question. With RE9 reportedly returning to Raccoon City and a new Resident Evil movie on the horizon, now is the perfect time for Capcom to revisit where it all began. Give us Resident Evil 1 in the RE Engine, brought to life in all its glorious, terrifying horror. |

And this is exactly why it should be remade I think.

That said, I wouldn't mind a semi open world spin off for RE either where you maybe did have an investigation angle that this games going for where you try to piece things together for the main story and maybe that investigation yields different endings. |

A radioactive Raccoon City. Usually the fallout lasts for decades (Centuries?). How far into the future does RE9 take place I hope they reveal.
Chernobyl is still radioactive and that was from 1986. Now 2025. Many animals got radiated and mutated. |

All depends on the source of the radiation, I think. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are reported to be perfectly safe now. Some of the radioactive isotopes trapped inside of Chernobyl have a much longer half-life, so they'll be dangerous for a long time to come. I'm definitely no scientist, but I think that's the gist.
