actually, screw the 606 and the 705. I WANT the 805.

I am now in a pickle, I am contemplating on getting the 805. I have the 605 now. It would be around a $270 upgrade. I have someone to buy my 605 now for $350 and I can get the 805 for $620 shipped. what you guys think

Upgrading to the 805 would be an easy decision for me in your shoes.

haha, I know you would.
If I wiped my butt with 100 dollar bills this would be even easier decision, just hard to swallow though.

doby have you seen this new one from pioneer. I dont much about pioneer though. Only the elite versions I figure are awesome.

I've owned one from that family of receivers, the VSX-1014TX in 2004, and it was a very impressive receiver for audio quality and for power.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 1018TX to anyone.

whats weird about it, is that they remind me of sony receivers which I wouldnt buy. They have alot of power for a cheap price. I think the new one will decode dts master and true hd which isnt a big deal to me, because i use the ps3. but man, 130 watts of power. something to think about. i just dont know alot about pioneer.

Pioneer's power will drop a bit from its rated listing with all channels driven, but there's no real world source material that would allow this to occur.

I'd be weary of receivers that drop to under half of their rating, but for example the difference betwee 140w and 126w is a half-decibel.

There will definitely be a TX-SR706, Onkyo just haven't made metion of it yet, but on some of the German sites they're anticipating it soon.
I've been searching around for any information on the TX-SR706, but I haven't found much. Any information or rumors out there yet (hopefully in English, I'm not fluent in German)? I'm leaning towards purchasing a '705, but wanted to hear more about the '706 before I decide.

I wouldn't hesitate either - I owned the VSX-1016TX early last year. Great receiver! Albeit - I used it as a pre/pro - never used its amplification.

I own a VSX-1018TX too. It's pretty similar to the MSRP VSX-90TX, but it has more output power. Supply filtering isn't as good and lacks some of the features of the 1018TX.
