Your statement is contradicting! If you're referring to the blu-ray, then it's not a DVD. You've rated the A/V quality a 3.5, but you'll accept a 4 rating from someone else. And you've said it was solid, so which is it?

It was a sarcastic comment "in quotes" which referred to DVD Profiler, which I use to catalog my BD collection, and its antiquated propensity to refer to discs as DVDs. Yes, I said solid but nothing special - which to me get's a 3.5 but I can accept that others might judge it a 4 - nothing "contradicting", just accommodating, both to the poster who posed the question and to others who might have a different opinion.

Two things, pardner : learn how to read more carefully and to not be so in love with your own judgmental opinion, okay? Besides, did you miss the part where I said I wasn't having the best of days?

Good one! i was 13 years old when i rented this movie in it's unrated DC on video and i thought it was a hot movie as i had dirty fantasies about Sharon Stone for a month. She was one of my boyhood crushes since i saw her in Total Recall.

The PQ is ok but has some noise and some wax around. I wish they do a restored version re-issue like Total Recall was.

I would suggest getting the UK version. It's region free and, overall, better PQ.

I wouldn't....the sound is a mess on the UK version.....LFE channel is missing !

This films needs a 4K remaster. (sans the warm filter that usually goes with 4K remasters )
I am not buying this until it's released that way.

I already own the original blu, and would pay $100 to have both parts 1+2 remastered. I wish Synapse, Arrow or Criterion could get a hold of these.

Is the bass just blended into a channel because the audio sounded fine to me (although I did not A/B to the U.S. disc - only the PQ).

Put the club scene on with the German 5.1 sound and then switch to the English 5.1 track and you will hear an feel what i mean

Since Lionsgate owns the two films, its a miracle either are even available on blu-ray.

As I've mentioned before, I would love to see a remaster as it's a beautifully filmed movie. I'm not sure if it's a high enough profile movie that will actually ever see it though.

I'm with you. Great cinematography and an even better soundtrack. The existing blu-ray is old and outdated. I'd love a 2k scan at the very least.

Basic Instinct was a huge box office hit and pop culture phenomenon back in its day. It definitely deserves a better Blu-ray release.
