But keep in mind, and these are your words here, it only SEEMS rather unlikely that someone could like their collection of 400 Blu-Rays. I personally like all but probably 5 of my discs. I even stated why.

So instead of trying to say "people are buying a film for the hell of it" just because YOU may not like it, just say nothing and let people buy what they want.
If you weren't so eager to jump on everyone, maybe you could actually take the time to read what I said and not merely read what you think I said. It's a simple matter of statistics. There are less than 800 Blu-Ray releases (probably closer to 600-650 if I would weed out the unreleased items). Even with 800, the probability that someone would like 50% of what has been released is pretty low. Maybe if someone did the math, we'd find that percentage was right in line with the actual people who do own that 300-400.

If you like your 400 Blu-Ray's, that's great. I never said you shouldn't like them all. I never said you had poor taste in movies for liking them, especially given I have no clue what movies you own (nor do I care what you own).

Could most people on this site find 400 Blu-Ray's that they honestly like out of the current selection? I seriously doubt it. Could some people do it? Obviously, yes. And that was my whole point.

To answer the question - Yes. I have no other reason under heaven or on earth to have titles such as "Beerfest" or "The Devil's Rejects" on my shelf.

On the subject of "kiddie" movies; I'm 62 and I have "Ratatouille", "Ice Age","Narnia", and other similar movies on Blu-ray. The movie I am waiting for most right now is not "Iron-Man" - instead, it is "Wall-E". I think the family movies are fantastic for all ages.

A few things.......

1) So where is the OP, with his list of "superior" movies worth owning?

2) I collected some DVDs for the sake of "collecting" but would never buy one that looked bad just because it was cheap.... (so I got a bunch of Criterion collection titles, a bunch of double-dip special editions, etc..... in my 1,200 or so DVDs)

3) I have Ratatouilli, my wife likes it.... my kid will like it when he's a little older.....

4) of my 60 or so Blu-Rays, 40 are probably double-dipped from my DVD collection, and some, I have multiple copies of on DVD, so to answer your question, "No" I don't buy Blu-Rays for the hell of it, because if I did, I would be scooping up these titles I don't care for on BOGOs, that I didn't buy on DVD...... I rented "30 Days of Night" on Blu-Ray, and if it was $5 I still wouldn't buy it.... because I "CARE" what I have in my collection.... if it's a one-time view, then I'm not going to buy it!!!!

I also have "Devil's Rejects" on DVD. I'm a big Rob Zombie fan. But thanks for the offer anyway.

When the war was going on I was being a little less judicious on my title selection as I was considering it doing my part in helping move us toward victory. Now that we've won, I've been a bit more picky.

I'm 37 years old and love Pixar films!

I will proudly own every Pixar film when it is released on Blu.

John Ratzenberger for the win!

I've bought the german version of Gangs of New York, just to see if the pq is as bad as the US/UK version or not. Just for the hell of it.

So yeah OP, people buy Blu's just for the hell of it.

I'd just like to say that I personally try to only buy the best blu-rays out. That includes PQ, AQ, and of course just all around good movies. I don't see the point of just buying blu-rays for the sake of owning them, or as demo material.

Just my two cents.

Sorry... I pre-ordered it from Walmart.com but in my mind that's buying it.

Still did it for the hell of it.

So eager to jump on everyone? I jumped on one guy who said that if someone owns 300-400 Blu-Rays that they can't possibly like all the movies they own. Why couldn't they? I also jumped on the guy that said I was bragging about my collection of movies, but apparently he hasn't seen the rest of this thread. And where are you coming up with your percentages? There's absolutely no way anything like that could even be determined. It would all be personal assumptions. So while you guys assume that no one could like 300-400 of the Blu-Rays that are out, I am going to assume that most people could.

By the way, not all of my movies are domestic releases. So really, there's way more than 800 Blu-Rays available if you include stuff from other countries. Which really make is plausable that someone with 400 Blu-Rays would enjoy all of their movies. And my point is, don't jump to conclusions like that. Just because you don't think it's possible, doesn't make it so.

And where is the original poster? Why isn't he here defending his topic?

Seems like a silly reason, but if you think it helped, I guess that's all that matters

I'm not going to criticize your collection, but I'm curious as to why someone with over 1,000 movies, has the first part of the Pee-Wee's Playhouse collection, but not the second part? Also, where in the world is Pee-Wee's Big Adventure?

I wonder about this Pixar fascination as well. It was interesting when one or two animated features would be released in a year, but now it seems that we have been inundated with wise-cracking, digitally-rendered, talking animals. Some of these movies are good, but some are just another vehicle for marketing toys, t-shirts, lunch boxes, etc. I do not buy BD's just to have them. I can't afford to do that right now. The interesting thing is that my wife and I are expecting are first child next March, after 18 years of marriage. I am interested to see how my BD-buying habits will change when are baby enters the picture.
I don't really care if people (grown-ups) like to buy "kids movies," but I don't buy them. I have very few kid films in my DVD/BD collection. But there are a few that I think you just have to have if you are a movie buff.
