Aside from the great special effects I hated all the JP's. They were completely massacred from the 2 Crichton books. Those were 2 of my all time favorite books. If you read them both you will see what I mean.

Its been a while I've read those book, but in my memorie the first book wasn't that badly port in movie. But the second one made me wonder if they read the book at all... Sphere and Timeline was also very bad movie adaptation from Crichton books

i THINK timeline was the worst adaptation of them all though Lost World was pretty bad. I actually enjoyed that book more than Jurassic Park. Excellent easy read.

The thing I hated the most is that we didn't get Pteradons until Jurassic Park 3 when they were in the first book. And JP3 sucked.

JP3 was nothing more than, "hmm... I wonder what even bigger dinosaur is around the next corner?"

I wouldn't read too much into including JP on the doc, there were plenty of other films shown purely to reinforce the docs content.

I read both books as well and I also thought the first was a good adaptation, some scenes were cut for budgetary reasons. I don't know what happened to the second one but the worst part for me was Julian Moore (completely wrong for the part in the book).

Also, I'm pretty sure Michael Crighton wrote the screenplay for both and did the major changes for the second one.

Sam Neill was completely wrong for his part, too

I liked the first book and the first movie in different ways. THe second book I liked whereas the second movie only has a couple of good parts.

the third was abysmal.

I'm starting to worry about a zombie apocalypse

Let's hope this is the year we get these films. It is already shaping up to be a great year. Not all of us will get our dream titles but I think Jurassic Park is high up on a lot of people's lists. It might be the highest on my list because I've held off on even owning the DVDs

I've got my First Ed. book of JP. I haven't read it in a while. There are major differences in both book and film but I enjoy the film. JP is definitely in my top 10.

I miss Michael Crichton, a lot of his books became excellent movies and ER went to crap when he died.

Hope that when they do hit blu they sell them seperately, as I only really liked the first one.
