It is such a bad movie, I really wish I could erase that and SM3 from my head. They ruin the movie franchises as well unless the next movies retcon them...

"Men In Black II" just made no sense when viewed after the first. And "Tank Girl" had major problems when The Rippers showed up (Ice T really hasn't said "No." to a role, has he? I mean, a kangaroo-man? Really, Ice T?). But the movie that currently stands as the most disappointing of all time for me is "The Incredible Hulk". I'm a HUGE fan of the comic and loved the way he was handled in Ang Lee's "Hulk". I know most people hated the '03 version, but Lee stayed so true to The Hulk in that movie it was insane!

I can't believe they went with the crappy television show origin in the new one! They completely robbed the weak Bruce Banner of his heroic moment! They also made him look like an idiot by getting his translation of "You're making me angry" wrong. This dude is a flippin' intelligent scientist, he wouldn't confuse "hungry" for "angry". And what's with giving Bruce abs? He's a wimp! He doesn't have to work out because he changes into The Hulk when he becomes angry!

But they changed that too, didn't they? To trade off anger for heartbeats to kick off his transformations had to be THE STUPIDEST THING THEY COULDA DONE TO HIM! I mean, the guy can't even get laid without changing?! What kinda crap is that?! Then to rob The Hulk of growing with his anger and leaping from place to place... THAT'S LIKE TAKING AWAY SUPERMAN'S STRENGTH AND ABILITY TO FLY!!!!!! And what was with him tearing cars in half to use as weapons and sheilds? THE HULK DOESN'T USE WEAPONS! HE USES HIS FISTS!!!!!!!!!

Let's also not forget that HE STUMBLED AROUND LIKE A BUFFOON AFTER A HIT FROM THE ABOMINATION!!!!!!!!!! The Hulk doesn't get dazed and confused in a fight, he gets mad, dag-nab-it! In the comics, he woulda got up and lept right back at that bastard with a roar of rage! Yes. I'm aware Superman defeated The Hulk with a rockslide in Marvel versus DC, but we all know that flippin' fight was fixed so DC's golden boy wouldn't look like a punk! Superman shoulda had his @ss handed to him!

Let's not get into how awful he looked. The Hulk looked like he was constantly flexing! Has nobody that worked on this film seen a real muscle-bound man when he wasn't flexing onstage? They aren't covered in wrinkles! They put so much "detail" in him that he looked filthy! He didn't even look like Edward Norton!

I just don't understand why they decided to make a comic-based movie aimed at folks who apparently didn't like the comic. It was a very stupid move, in my opinion. Especially when it only made 2 million more (domestically) than the last one... and that one was considered a failure even though it made more of a profit than this one (which cost 150 million to '03's 137 million)!!! I can't believe they're actually going to make a sequel to this crap.
this is an entertaining post

Ghostrider, STEEL , Elektra, and Catwoman are hard to beat imo..... but the new Punisher might be contender based on the previews

disclaimer: I was not taking into account any straight to video/Roger Corman shitfests, just large hollywood releases

Of course I'm aware of that! But that line really does sum up everything you need to know about Bruce Banner. I don't mind homages to old works. It just bothered me that they took the origin from the show.

Quote:
he would get angry at almost nothing, where before the accident he was Mr. Happy-go-lucky so to speak.
I think this was because he had issues with his anger being restrained. (Remember the scene when he ran to his mother after a fight? The other kid had mentioned that Bruce didn't do anything. He just stood there shaking.) Note that after the accident, a door in his subconscious opened. I think this is why the first time he changes, he seems to get angry out of nowhere. The Hulk wanted out and was looking for any excuse, including through frustration from the stress Bruce had been through for the last few days. (At least that's how I've always seen it. ) The second change came when Talbot assaulted him. (That was definetly anger there! ) The third change came after he was being tortured in the water tank. (That'd piss me off too! ) His final change happened outta fear. (I'm sure you know the old saying, "Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to anger..." )

It's been too long since I've seen this I guess. I need to buy it on blu soon.
You MUST get it on blu! It's absolutely gorgeous! The Hulk looks even better than he ever did! And the sound... OH, THE SOUND! My couch rocked with the one Talbot was on as Bruce slammed the floor during his change!

The first rule about Fight Club...
Good gravy! I almost made mention of "Fight Club" when I was typing about Norton's toughness! Interestingly enough, in the forum where I used to frequent, there was actually a thread asking "Who's the Better Bruce Banner, Bana or Norton?" and quite a few people thought Norton was better because he looked "tough enough" to say the line "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." I remember being quite confused as to why Bruce would have to be a tough guy. I found it absolutely perfect when Bana-Banner told Talbot that he was making him angry and Talbot actually laughed because that's no threat to him. At least he didn't think it was! That's what made Bana perfect. He looked like you could kick his @ss, but he had a secret weapon deep down inside that shocked any and everyone that managed to carelessly piss him off!

I would really love to see this interview, not because I don't believe you, but because I thought I had read and saw EVERYTHING pre TIH. So to hear this has me intrigued. I think as fans of the Hulk we have to assume that he jumped to get there (not everything needs to be shown). In the Script there were two moments where he did the 'super-jump,' once there where he went from Brazil to Mexico and then at the end when he left Manhattan. It really was too bad that they didn't put it into the film. I do like the jump, but I hated the bunny hopping of the first Hulk. I like the single multi-mile jump from a standing position. Also the super-speed in the first film had me rolling my eyes I can't recall any instances of the Hulk running super fast in the comics. (there I go nitpicking)
These interviews went on last year over at http://www.comicbookmovie.com/. (I'm not sure if you can still find 'em, but good luck!) I think they're the reason I didn't enjoy it as much. At first, the director was all, "I liked Lee's film", but not long into production he started talking crap on it and about how much better and more action-packed his would be. He talked up the action so much that I actually expected this thing to be a Michael Bay movie!

I thought that the super-speed was all right. He only used it when he first burst out of the lab to get up the momentum to make his leaps. I loved watching him jump further and further until he was a small speck and then BOOM! He crashes down right in front of us!

Quote:
I just didn't like the choice visually to go with a mushroom. It would have been better to show Nolte in some form struggling in his own body (or at least something resembling a body). Again nitpicking
I know exactly what you mean. When they first crashed into the ground together and The Hulk started pounding the living crap outta his father in the rock, I was all "YEAH! KICK HIS @SS!", then when he threw him into the water... I was a tad disappointed that there would be no more punching. At the same time, I just loved the way he was able to "pour" his rage into dear, old dad! I don't know if the scene would've had as much of an impact if his father had been a solid form. I mean, The Hulk couldn't focus his rage into him that way. I guess they coulda had him act like The Leader did when he stole The Hulk's strength, but I don't know if people woulda understood what was going on when dad started just going insane and beating everything around him. And how would Bruce get his power back? He was only able to get it from The Leader because of the machine that was created to steal his power in the first place.

Quote:
I personally chose to look at it as a "What-if" version of the Hulk and that's helped me enjoy it more.
This is almost exactly what I said about "TIH" after I saw it!

Quote:
I do enjoy your posts and would like to see you post here more often.
Thanks! Oh, I think you'll see me 'round these parts a whole lot more.

Quote:
I'm all for more Hulk movies!
No doubt! I would like to see what they do with The Leader!

Quote:
I think the differences you are seeing in the budget are for the prints and advertising. The first film has it listed seperately as $137m budget and $35m for prints and advertising. I think TIH was $150 with prints and advertising and $137.5m without.
Makes sense.

By the way, to get back on topic (this isn't a "Hulk" vs "The Incredible Hulk" thread), I haveta agree with Nameless Evil that "Supergirl" would probably forever hold the title as WORST COMIC ADAPTION EVER! Helen Slater was adorable, but Faye Dunaway was the worst villainess for a superhero! I mean, what kinda villain ditches their efforts at world domination for a man?! And a flippin' landscapist at that! And what was up with the end? She just leaves and everyone promises not to mention her ever again?! I guess that's a good way to ferget about this travesty, huh?

They didn't take the origin from the show.

They used the Marvel Ultimates origin they just used the same contraption from the show to make it a homage.

You're fighting against yourself at this point, you're saying you like homages to past work {the show and the contraption he was strapped into} but you have a problem with them using the origin from the show, which they did not.

He wasn't working on the super solider program in the show.

I'll have to go with the cheesy 70's Captain America movie starring Reb Brown. The newer one was corny too (the Red Skull was Italian??), but it was better than the former.

I hope they do a better job with the next CA movie. It's a great character.

Catwoman is hands down the worst. After she was finished destroying the Bond movie, she went and tossed this turd out.

Howard the Duck, Steel and League were also bad for me.

Shoot me, but I really like Blade Trinity and DD (moreso the DC).

Yes. I'm aware he wasn't working on a serum. I meant it in the way that he willingly "infected" himself with The Hulk. I've already typed that I hated the fact that the television origin took away Banner's heroism. The director never mentioned the comics in his interviews. He was all about the show. (And I apparently also hate the new Ultimates origin, too.)

Faust: Love of the Damned.
Ranks about the same as Vampirella. It's cool that they tried to make it, but what a horrible job!
