Can you provide a source? Best not to post vague memories, because people assume anything they read on the Inet is the truth.

I'm going to be cautious about Psycho. Universal has a bad track record so far with putting old transfers on BD that were intended for DVD. I'll wait for some reviews before purchasing.

I hope they do a fitting transfer for BD, and that they correct the aspect ratio.

just watched Psycho for the first time last year. Great film and an instant favorite of mine. My only issue was
[Show spoiler] the doctor or whoever in the very final scene explained way too much of what I already knew. Just seemed like they could have cut that scene and just let the audience naturally figure out (or debate about) why he was dressed up as he was.

YES, YES, YES!

I have been waiting for something like this to happen for quite some time! It's about time master of perfected thrillers gets his rightful place on bluray. I can only hope this opens the doors to many more of his classics.

Now if I can just get released date for Scarface....oooh baby, that would make my day, year, month--whatever!

Yeah, it's been on of my fav since I first watch when I was about 13 (...wow, that feels so long ago, lol). And I sort of agree w/ you about that part, but I think you have to understand what Hitchcock was talking about as a subject matter in this movie, back in those days most people didn't know or understand about stuff like that. So I think that particular part (in the movie) was more so a product of its time than anything else.

I've always had my dislikes of that final exposition scene. It was a bad choice in a otherwise perfect film. At the time its understandable as it was a subject matter that few had encountered in other media. Completely different time. Also I question whether Hitch placed it there at the behest of the studio or if it was his decision.

It was forced on him by either the studio or the censors (can't remember).

I am trying to remember where I read it, but I know I did. Hopefully it will not be in 2013 when it will be 50 years old.

Re: Psycho, I think this will be a prestine offering from Universal. It is actually being restored and not just remastered.

I have no doubt that this title was handled with extreme care. This is one of Universal's gems and they know how important a release it is. It just so happens to be my favorite film of all-time, so it better be good.

Just like they handled Spartacus? Universal has to do an amazing effort on this, since most of their catalog titles looked awful.

I envy anyone who has never seen this film. There nothing like watching it for the first time.

So true. I still remember my first time very well as it was a few years ago.

The press release for Psycho said the movie was restored. They never said they did a full restoration on Spartacus.

my parents a big Hitchock fans so they turned me on to his films early on, i probably say Psycho for the first time almost 20 years ago. wish i could have that experience again, hopefully it will be one of those blurays where watching it feels like the first time all over again.

I wish I could go back in time and view this flick without knowing anything about it. Not the shower scene or anything. Imagine walking in, watching what is basically a "heist" movie and then 40 or so minutes in, BAM! The main character is dead and the movie takes you on a whole new ride!

I took a film class a year ago during third year university and Psycho was on the syllabus. My friend had never seen it, nor was aware of the ending. Seeing his reactions really showed me how powerful the film actually is. I, too, wish I could go back in time and see it for the first time.

And I'm pretty sure Paramount strongly urged him to include the epilogue with the doctor. Different times, I guess.
