I heard the same thing, maybe get rid of some of those crap on demand titles that no one watches (programs made by comcast especially) It would take Comcast forever to upgrade every "rural market" to their maximum hd capacity that they offer in the "major markets". For example my parents live in the Bay Area and they got on demand 2.5 years before it was offered in my market in a college town about 100 miles north of Sacramento by the comcast affiliate up here. I Have D-TV and absolutely love it, and am trying to get my parents to make the switch. They get ten local HD channels alone, plus FSN HD and all the "current" older D-TV channels, except HD net/movies. Up here they only offer 10 total HD channels, 3 are local. They don't even broadcast ABC HD (but they have standard def ABC) so I was granted the national feed by D-TV. I'm one of maybe 50 people who get ABC HD in my area. The comcast affiliate has poor relations with the regional affiliate of ABC apparantly. If they don't have ABC HD on comcast up here I couldn't imagine how long it would take them to expand their HD line-up. Those bastards came to my house and accused me of stealing cable when I had paid comcast monthly for internet and D-TV for tv. I showed the jackass technician that I had D-TV HD with Tivo and how my Sunday Ticket with Superfan was amazing compared to their crappy 4 games a week and HD lineup. I threatened to call the cops and he left, the guy came on my property without announcing himself and had a ladder next to my window, I thought he could be snooping for all I knew. Since then I have taken an oath to never get comcast again. I got AT&T DSL the same 6meg speed for 1/2 the price. D-TV does not offer the mpeg-4 HD local broadcast affiliates (fox, cbs, abc, nbc, pbs) since I live in a "rural market", I have to get them over the air which sucks.

I received an automated call from DTV yesterday and it was about the new HD but i was not in a position to stay on and listen. Think i might call a real person and see what it was or what they are offering.
Already have the HD tuner since i get OTA HD but only have the 3 LNB DTV antenna.

I am excited that there is new movement to expand HD content from another provider.

Nope. Rumors of delays are out there. Who knows at this point. The satellite is hot and my numbers on 103(b) have been in the 90's and 80's. D* has been silent. Not good PR when your CSR's are telling people that today is the day.

Where did you get that info from?
In a standard 256 QAM channel you can get (with new compression gear) three HD channels and almost 15 SD channels.
Mind you this is with new cutting edge gear, which I know DISH is using now and the cable co are installing now.

I'll be real interested to hear from people who do the upgrades and see if there's any picture quality improvements across the boards or not.

this is the problem posted by someone in the DTV forums...

Apparently, the asmorific on the left quadrant of the new sat experienced inperfictious interference creating agnigious false AMRs reducing jigular amplification necessary for the composite of pixels to illuminate from fragmatation.

What does that mean? What kind of delay are we looking at?

By the way I got a call from D-TV tonight. It was an automated message saying that I need the bbc-converters installed and the new channels were launching shortly.
yeah the bbc is important its only 19.99 and you can probly find one around maybe amazon, or buy.com, ebay.... anyway if you need to test if you get the new channels go to channel 499 and if it says searching for channel your fine, if it says nothing just a blank screen you've gotta upgrade or get the bbc converter.. but yeah typical hopefully its like a day and not next month.
