With the French boxset I'm going to wait to be sure before purchasing.
What I do not get, is why Splendid chose a 1080i 25fps resolution for these discs, when previously they have released 1080p 24fps versions.

I'm wondering if that goes back to idea of these being the broadcast versions with the uncut Black Editions coming from another source.

Did they release all of the episodes as Black Editions, or just a few of them?

I have Cigarette Burns, Pelts, and Pro-Life, and I've seen Imprint and Haeckel's Tale. I believe they're just the episodes that were censored.

By the way, Amazon Germany gave me a refund and let me keep the discs since the return shipping is too expensive. I just don't know if I'll ever watch them.

I wonder if I'm ever going to manage to get a decent set for the whole series. I'm kind of losing hope...

I'll check out the French boxset, but I guess it'll be more of the same.
If that's the case, perhaps I'll get the season 2 discs from Splendid (much cheaper than buying the Nameless mediabook), with the exception of volume 4 (which is edited, if I got it right) to replace my Spanish BD-R (never could stand them).

p.s. good to know about your Amazon.de purchase, at least you won't have to go through the hassle of returning them

Unfortunately, volume 4 also has the uncut Right to Die. I've added all the season 2 DVDs to my Amazon wishlist. I think what I might do is watch all the episodes on blu-ray (might as well) and then buy the DVDs for any that I like better this time around. They're going for about $8 on Amazon, but it's just frustrating that you have to get each episode separately.

I'm sure I've been missing something, but... why the DVDs?

Because they're the only way to watch them without the speedup. When you run something filmed at 24 frames per second at 25 frames per second, it runs faster than intended and results in a higher pitch for the audio. This can be corrected, but I checked both The Black Cat and Sounds Like against the DVDs and the pitch is indeed higher. To be honest, though, you might not even notice it. I notice it mostly when there's a piece of music I know well.

Ok, I get it. I do own the dvd too (I've kept them for the extras, mainly).

More bad news -- I watched Right to Die last night and there are forced subs for English writing. It was just one time though -- when Cliff sees the note from Abby on the wall. I checked the subs, and they were turned off. I wish they'd have a separate sets of subs for stuff like this, but I guess with just one line, they figured it wasn't worth it. I hope this doesn't keep popping up in other episodes, but I just have to remind myself that I got the discs for free.

What did you cite as your reason for returning? Just curious...

Unfaithful description, I would guess (discs are 1080i and not 1080p, as stated on the cover). Right, Rockercub?

That's exactly right, GiorgioV. I was honest with them. They asked what was wrong with the description on the listing, and I told them the listing was fine, but the cover on the product was wrong. I called it a manufacturer error, which it is. But I did feel a little weird about it because the deciding factor for me was really the framerate, not that it was interlaced. I figure they get a little extra from me though cause I'm a Prime member.

So the Nameless Media set is indeed 1080i? I've watched select episodes from each season, and I have to say that I'm impressed with the quality for what it is.

I don't believe we have a confirmation on that, but it sounds like it's the case since they referred me to Splendid.

By the way, I picked up the DVD for Dream Cruise because there's Japanese without English subs on the Splendid version. My high school German got me through, but I thought I should have the DVD, especially since it's the full length version. I'm hoping a little fleshing out of the plot improves it, but I'm not placing any bets. At least there's some eye candy with Daniel Gillies.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but does anyone have any feedback on the Amazon versions of MoH: The Complete Season 2 [SD]?

I have Season 1: Vol 1-4 on Blu but there doesn't seem to be a decent release of Season 2 on disk...is that correct?

Also neither Vudu or iTunes appears to have all of the S2 episodes even, let alone a Complete Season 2 as a bundle.

Thanks in advance...

I haven't seen any of the streaming versions, so I can't comment there. All I can tell you is that I still haven't heard anything definite about the Nameless Media release. I'm still assuming it's 1080i/25fps based on Nameless referring me to Splendid for the specs. I have the four Splendid discs, and they're 1080i/25fps and censored to boot. The Black Edition releases for some of the episodes are the only ones available in 1080p/24fps, and they're pretty hard to come by these days. If you don't mind SD, it might be worth trying the Amazon streaming versions. Might be the most bang for your buck. Hopefully somebody will be able to comment on the quality.

Well, here's confirmation that the Nameless release is 1080i/25fps (I've been calling it 25 fps, but I guess technically it's 50 fps because of the interlacing).

Are the episodes not in order?

It appears not. I can confirm the Splendid release isn't in order. I'm not sure how these were originally shown in Europe though, so maybe they had a different order there.
