On blu-ray.com six months will go by faster than the speed of light. Well be fondling this steelbook triplet before you know it.

The only time ever I heard of a preorder getting sold out was for the Pinocchio wooden box package (or did it?).

Sort of. It went in and out of stock a few times. On release date Amazon messed it up completely. People who have pre-ordered it a few weeks in advance (like me) got the amaray version, others who have ordered the amaray version on short notice (like American Baron) got the wooden box. So I don't know if you could call that OOP well before release date. In fact I don't know what I should call that at all.

About that VAT thing, it's 19% for Germany. If you subtract that from 34,99 € that makes 28,35 €. So I wonder about those 29,40 €. But that's OPP (other people's problem).

I agree.. members here are acting crazy lately.. what so rush about pre-order..
It's not like they will disappear suddenly.. pre-order and then you receive a amarray and worse you have to pay the postage to return it..
Worse case after all there aren't any steel at all (Transporter 3 Germany), so all this months of joy.. chat with each other is pointless and useless (IMO of anticipation on pre-order).

Sorry, that's only my opinion. I'm my work everything must be well planned, can not be based on assumptions and there's no room for errors. I can't plan something to based on the expectation that it will happen. So I will never understand why so rush on getting the steel. "oh 432 days left until the release date..." "oh 430 days 11h 59 min. left until the release date..."
"oh the steel is cancelled"

As as you can see, from time to time there's french steel that never release.

Hey vic, we all know it's crazy , but we're just having a little fun and it really doesn't cost us anything since we can cancel pretty much up until release date and we'll also take advantage of any decrease in price...usually by then we have a clearer picture on all the details of the steelbook...

Cheers,
Gui.

If I'm wrong and it got sold out on pre-order I'll still get these Steels.
I got a hold of 2 Pinocchio and I was late.

Don't worry about me halamadrid I'm getting what I want.

don't worry tiger...just trying to entice you the same way you lured me into the 10,000 bc steels ...

...to be honest I'm not crazy about these versions b/c they are the theatricals and I would have liked that they have the original title on the cover (in English) ... my guess is that Warner will milk this one and issue multiple editions of these steels...

Don't say that!
I'm sick of this multiple releases.
I have 5 TDKs and will end up with I don't know how many T2s!!!
Not to mention the 10,000 BCs....

Cheers,
Gui.

halamadrid now seriously, teach me what's the strategy to use will the T2 Steelbook and the T2 Skull Skynet Edition?!? What technique you use on pre-order to secure the one you want (if you don't know which one in the first place)?

Pre-ordering all? How to cancel if they release in different date? How to choose? If spec is not accurate. How? because I really want to know. More and more countries are releasing it and I just want 1 of each.

By the way Spain also made their move in the Skull.

It's easy for me since I tend to purchase only what I like, and I'm not a completist. I got the two 10,000 BC's because I liked the cover (especially the German one), and they're cheap. I really don't complicate myself with specs, countries, releases, etc. since I'm not an expert or hardcore collector - if I like them I try to get them. This is also not my line of business so the ones I sell is because I stopped liking them, don't need them, or found another one that I like more; so future profit is not a motivation for me either.

In terms of T2, I'm not going for the skull because it has nothing to do with collecting steels. In terms of the steelbooks; with all things being equal I go with the cheapest so my preorder is with Amazon UK...although I think I'm probably canceling and waiting until I can confirm it's a steelbook and not a "steel tin" as it is listed right now. Who knows, this new T2 is not really one that excites me all that much, I much prefer the Japanese release to be honest.

I will still buy them, but I agree with you a title of a movie should be like a persons name: it should stay the same no matter what language. hopefully futureshop gets these in steelbook

So you will watch a foreign movie at the movie theatre you can't even pronounce it's title? What will you tell your girlfriend/wife, Hey honey, let's go to that Korean movie? I can't say it's name, but you know which I mean?

Good point but just curious as to why some movies like fight club and I am legend etc. not have German text? And steelbook and blu-ray are the same in any language

Because some expressions have become more common in a foreign language than others. Fight & Club or Sex & City have been assimilated into the German language so there's no need to translate them, everybody should know the meaning. But take Body of Lies, The Day the Earth Stood Still or Quantum of Solace. You expect the average worker at the assembly lines at Ford or the girl behind the counter at the next supermarket will get the meaning? I really doubt it. On the other hand, will anybody in the US/Canada know what Das Leben der Anderen means? But The Lives of Others rings a bell, doesn't it?

Looks like Americans aren't any better than Germans. Or shall I say as ignorant as?

However, these Blu-Rays/steelbooks are produced first of all for the domestic market, so they can put on the cover whatever they want. I won't get the German cover of an German movie in the US either. And if I want the French version guess what's on the cover.
