Personally, I've always love that movie

I don't mind the PG-13ness of it, because the comics still exist and the animated show already provided the original material's grittiness.

Still waiting on Spawn: The Animation, though.

Idris Elba is freaking PERFECT if Jai White doesn't get recast, imo I think he's the best spawn. but they need somebvody who can truly act if they were going to go the REAL true Spawn this time with current's technology CGI. Deep, dark, emotional story. Flat out RATED R movie.

Jon as the Clown is great of course, but then again they could hire somebody like Jared Leto...I reckon he can do a pretty good clown.

Spawn was black? I had no idea, lol. I vaguely remember reading a Batman vs Spawn crossover as a kid. I loved the visual feel of the film from the 90's, but can't remember much about it. I want to say Ray Leguizamo was the villain, but I can't be certain.

Glad to see things are starting to look serious for this now. I love the sound of this from how McFarlane's described it, a dark gritty scary horror flick with Spawn the one unnatural element in an otherwise normal world.

McFarlane confirmed an R a long time ago. As for the lead, he's teased before that he's had talks with a big-name Oscar-winning actor who's been interested in the part for years now, calling him on a regular basis to check the progress of the script. Hints have seemed to suggest Jamie Foxx.

I can't wait to see this, and I hope they do the character justice. The previous movie wasn't that bad, but I'm sure they can go a lot darker now. Jamie Foxx might work, but I'd rather see a relatively unknown actor take up the role. It's going to be hard to find someone as good as John Leguizamo to play Violator though. He really nailed it in my opinion.

McFarlane has confirmed there will be no Clown or Violator. In order to keep the movie low budget enough so that he can direct it himself, he's scripted it as more of a horror movie and less of a superhero movie.
