I was wondering if there are situations where you feel the DVD is adequate or better yet, you actually get the DVD instead.
For example: I bought the Unrated DVD of "Live Free or Die Hard" My father gave me the deluxe DVD edition of "Field of Dreams" for Christmas a few years back. It's fair quality, DTS sound, but most importantly it was a gift of our favorite father/son film. I won't be buying the Blu-ray. It would feel wrong. Sometimes I read an article on the quality of a film coming to DVD and it says "Oh the picture is too soft, and the audio not perky enough etc..." such as early reviews I've seen on 'Ferris Bueller' and 'Falling Down'. Since the Blu-rays are expensive I may just get the DVD if the Blu isn't going to be top notch. Anyone else ever done the same sort of thing? |
