I'll keep the first release
just broke down a couple weeks ago to get the blu, even though this release has been talked about for many months now. If there is a dollar off redemtion for owning the first blu, and I could sell the first blu, then maybe I'd get this version. I still haven't even watched it, so I have no idea what it looks like, other than what I've read. Interesting that no one has mentioned this re-release, but there is much speculation over the Watchmen re-release we may or may not see at the tail end of 2009. If they are doing it with '300', don't you think they may pursue it with Watchmen? Thoughts, only thoughts...

question, side by side are they the same codec and what not, or is this a newer version. I dunno basically what im asking is if they changed anything like PQ or AQ from the original release, or is it the same with just butload of extras

PQ probably is the same, maybe they had the version with out grain?

AQ should be improve since now they got Dolby HD most likely is a 24bit sound, original one has 16bit pcm.

I'm going to buy it. I hadn't been able to buy the previous Blu-Ray, and I was already planning to double dip the dvd I have, so it's a win-win situation in my case.

I already own the first edition of the special collection. (The one with the Small Helmet) which is worth a lot and the HD-DVD Version.
But I will sure go for this one too.. Why not?

I voted YES! I'm getting it. I like digi books, and I sold my copy of 300 here.

so far it has been released that the movie will be exactly the same from the original release, same PQ same AQ. If that is wrong, then that may be the only deciding factor in me getting it, otherwise who cares about the digi-book?

The original blu-ray was actually a port over from 30GB HD-DVD. I'd be a hypocrite to extoll the virtue of 25 GB blu-ray and bad mouth a 30GB HD-DVD. With that said, a true blu-ray port would have slightly better bit rates. Probably the same picture quality after saving the disc space for the extras.

Is this even remastered?

I'll replace the HD-DVD with this. It could take years(or possibly never happen), but I'd like to replace my HD-DVDs with equal or superior Blu-ray versions.

the only differences on the set besides the packaging are the extras. same PQ/AQ as before.

Adam - do you know about the Red2Blu program that Warner offers? if not, check this out:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=96148

you can trade in Warner HD-DVDs for their Blu-ray counterparts

No need...Newbie starting off collection and I don't have a lot of money to double dip when there's so many others I want.
Plus I hate the Digibooks even more than the slim cases (Why I passed on the Matrix 10th anniversary and got the Complete set)...I'm a little OCD about the cases

gonna take a stab at this, but is the only reason you don't like digi-book because then your movies aren't all uniform? I'm being serious.

Yes, I know Strange...lol...I'm even trying to get regular cases for the Matrix Trilogy and printing some cover art from the forums to get rid of those slim cases...

The Matrix has been out for 20 years?!?!?! I'm older than I thought. Why is everybody complaining about the AQ on the previous version? It offered both a TrueHD and uncompressed track and sure they were 16-bit, nothing a human ear can automatically discern, but to this day, this is one of the most ranging, powerful, and great-use-of-surround-channels tracks out there.
