Agreed this is a great season, but I think the episodes have got better as the season has progressed. Early on it didn't feel 'as great' as previous seasons, but I think it's back up there now!

I thought this season has been pretty great, but last night was pretty poor. Penny seems to have been reduced to just a nothing character. They have too much focus now with all these main characters and other supporting characters they try to fit in each show.

Yes, I think that Penny deserves to have some character development.
The first thing the writers need to do is letting her quit her job at the Cheesecake Factory. This is long overdue.

Well she needs to go back to school as Sheldon used to try to pressure her into doing BUT if she does I want it to be something that becomes fully realized and actually leads to something. Don't want to see them do it and then the show ends while she's still working on her degree.

I think this season has been pretty poor. There is no major storyline and every episode is getting nowhere. They need to pull out some Ross and Rachel storylines like Bernadette gets pregnant or Leonard cheats on Penny.

Well given how this season seems to be going and the long run of the show, I would imagine the writers are starting to run out of ideas so I actually kinda hope this will be the final season, 7 is a lot.

I feel this season has been one of the strongest. Each episode has had me rolling on the floor.

Personally I thought the season started out poorly but has been much better as of late with the exception of the Discovery Dissipation episode.

Agreed!

However whilst I wouldn't mind if this was the last season - go out on a high - I can't imagine they'll stop until the ratings drop (i.e., until it becomes very poor).

I still enjoy The Big Bang Theory but don't go out of my way to watch it. I'm not trying to be a jerk but go back and watch the first 2 seasons and then tell me the current season is even close. Sheldon has evolved from not understanding others but at least making an effort to being a self-important douche. Raj originally brought some of the best comedy to the show with his mannerisms and quirks but now he is just creepy and strange. Leonard was interesting because he tried so hard to be "normal" and now he is. Finally, Howard might have been obnoxious but he was "Howard" now he is just boring.

Go back and watch the episode where Sheldons sister stays at Penny's and Raj takes the experimental drugs.

I kind of see your points and agree on some of them. My wife is the more avid watcher of the show. I kind of listen around the corner while I'm on the computer. I think most of the characters have grown a bit, but some of the antics have gotten out of hand. I think Raj definitely needs some reworking. The writers need to definitely stop proving Leonard's mom's point with Howard and him.

Watching season 5 and still say the first 5 seasons were completely solid, waiting to get season 6 till it drops in price, hoping season 7 will at least be okay.

I didn't even notice that, guess I'll have to wait till it's about $10 again.

What's the word on an eighth season? I see that season seven will be available on Blu-ray many months earlier that normal.

Contracts are all up this year I believe

3 main stars reportedly seeking 500k per episode, Blossom and Bernadette are already signed, Howard and Raj to next on the list.

Who's Blossom, Sheldon? I had heard an 8th season was already locked in but due to salaries I imagine it will be the last one. Glad this show will come back early enough that I get to see 3 episodes before TVD comes on back on the 23rd.

CBS and Warner Brothers (which produces the show) are negotiating a new 3 season contract for the show, so WB will sign the cast members for at least 3 more seasons. Negotiations with the main cast are going to start early next month. It might take some time for the main contracts to get signed but there's no question a deal will eventually get done. The Big Bang Theory is by far the most popular scripted show on network television and the cast wants to keep doing the show so a deal will happen which will make the 3 main cast members among the highest-paid actors on TV.
