She looks a good decade to old to begin with because she is (yes Lara's age is important to the story), she doesn't look the part in that she doesn't even kind of look like Lara, she doesn't sound the part (and I doubt she can do a convincing accent). The only thing she has in common with Lara from the games is that she is indeed a female. It would be about as good of a casting call to hire Kevin James as the next James Bond.

I love the PS3 reboot for Tomb Raider from 2013 or so -- watching the trailer, it was as if they were using the game as a storyboard, from the art direction to - yes - Laura herself. Haven't played the sequel yet. No, she doesn't look too old. She sounds the part just fine.

To be clear I was talking about Gal Gadot being to old for the part, I'm not a fan of Alicia Vikander either for the part and she so far seems miscast. But she is a lot closer, or less miscast then Gal would be.

Wow, is this the latest video game Lara Croft? I always preferred when she looked a bit older and more muscular. The big boobs thing was always a bit hilarious, but she seems to be regressing into a Japanese gravure idol, growing younger and more Asian-looking. To be honest, she just looks rather plain and boring. Now, I can see why someone like Alicia Vikander was cast (not that Vikander is plain-looking), but WB probably should have gone for the classic Lara Croft look (minus the balloon chest) and cast someone a bit older (Jolie was actually three years younger than Vikander) and/or with a more imposing frame. It doesn't help that the abundant CG in the trailer simply reinforces the "bad video game" vibe that the rest of the promotional materials have given off.

Vikander looks like a physical therapist or a student, and I simply cannot buy her as Lara Croft. She is both a great actress, and beautiful, but this is one of her films I have absolutely no desire to see. The second trailer actually dampened my already low enthusiasm for the film.

It's a reboot of the game series. Laura physically is more normal. That image given from the first game isn't the best shot of her but she isn't edging asian territory w/ her face either. I get what you're getting at cuz of the eyes but it's just the way they did them. Ironically the art for the game didn't have her eyes that way much from what i remember. Anyway... I liked new Lara's look more than the classic one. Just felt right considering what it had to do. Also it was an attempt not the sexualize the character either. The new look works and it was a better character than the classic Lara too.

I'm still pissed that we never got a movie with Rhona Mitra. She's a genuine Brit, and she was one of the models for Lara in the 90s. Maybe her acting couldn't pass the test, but she's been fine in other films, though she's probably too old now (although I'd love an older Lara):

The image on the left is from the rerelease of the reboot on ps4/xbox one, where they changed the face and it is one of the big complaints many had with the rerelease. It just didn't look quite right.

An older Lara would be fine, but if there doing the reboot the age is important. Hoping we get some info on the third game soon and that this film is much better then it appears.

I said the same thing about Mitra. She would've nailed it. She has the personality and charisma to get the job done.
Forget too old, I prefer an older woman over the supermodel types passing for action leads these days.
