I purchased Seasons 1-6 of ST:TNG from Amazon.com the week prior to Thanksgiving. Seasons 2 and 6 had slips. The others did not. Pre-ordered Season 7 which was released on 12/02/2014. It had a slip naturally. Your results may vary of course.

I would imagine it's early enough most of their warehouses and boxes still have slips, but again it's hard to say. You might get a copy from a new box without them. It's a dice-roll either way.

Given the length of time since it was released, I am leaning towards no. I ordered BOBW back in 2013 for Christmas for my brother and it didn't come with one so given that roughly the same amount of time has passed, there is a pretty good chance you won't but you never know. All depends on when they sealed up that set.

I actually purchased ST:ENT off EBay not too long ago, the auction specifically stating the slips were included.

That being said, I don't really care if a Blu-ray title I purchase includes the slip or not. I must admit though. These ST:ENT slips do look good on the shelf next to the other Star Trek Blu-ray titles I own that happen to sport slipcovers.
Did they fix the missing line over the "ENT" on the Enterprise season 1 slipcover??

That line is missing on the other side of the slip.

Did you get into a bidding war over those? Just curious if you paid more on eBay than you would've with Amazon...

No actually. Paid $179.99 Buy It Now (...$50-$60 less than I would have on Amazon.com). Looks like they still have the set in stock, "pristine" slips included. Perhaps not for much longer though. See here.

I really wish we'd get some news on DS9 already. I watched a bit of the upscaled tribbles episode on the TOS blu set and even that would be better than what's currently available.

Perhaps they could just upscale all of DS9 and VOY for streaming services?

If not, would you guys say the DS9 DVD's are of a better quality then what's on NetFlix? Obviously DVD's can be upscaled a bit etc.. but just curious.

CBS obviously didn't watch the TNG special features - you remaster it so it doesn't look like an old show and sells easier. In its current SD state, no one will want to watch it in 5 years because it will look so bad.

The show either sold enough to justify DS9 or it didn't. They're not a charity, sadly. I want it as bad as anyone but if people just don't care and aren't buying it then an executive would be stupid to green-light a more expensive sequel.

I think they'd be wise to consider doing it with upscaling the effects. Us dedicated fans would still buy it and one assumes it's a lot cheaper.

I'd take it with upscaled VFX at this point, but even then it'd still cost several million dollars to do; if movie transfers/restorations start at the lower end of five figures and head into six figures (and sometimes higher) just for the average 2 hour flick, then 18-odd hours per season for 7 seasons is gonna cost a heck of a chunk of dough. The fans will also expect new VAM which won't be free either, then factor in Blu-ray package design, replication, distribution etc and it all adds up.

I'd be fine with the old Bonus Features, just as long as we get them all.
The Bonus Features don't have to be upconverted.

I wish there wasn't so much talk of DS9 in a TNG thread.

Has anyone tried their hand at making the TrekCore Borg Cube for the TNG Blu-rays? I'd like to try but I'm going to need the tools and skills of a friend of mine. Hoping to give it a go next weekend or so.

I think DS9 & Voyager on Netflix streaming looks decent for SD (generally, the later seasons look better than the first few). I'm assuming there's some upscaling going on though with either the device I'm using or the HDTV. It still would be a huge benefit to remaster like TNG, but DS9 & Voyager doesn't look as awful as TNG did when it was in SD on streaming and DVD. I borrowed the season 1 TNG DVD's from a friend and thought they looked terrible. They looked almost as bad as VHS. Never did see the DS9 or Voyager DVD season sets. However on DVD, I have the borge collection and time travel collection, which includes DS9 and Voyager episodes. They look decent for DVD quality. Not any better or worse than what's on Netflix streaming.

DS9 and VOY look pretty great on DVD when upscaled. I think maybe the first couple seasons of DS9 have that "VHS" look like TNG had on DVD, but it quickly becomes a very nice looking show with a lot of detail. Surely better than the Netflix streams due to lack of compression and higher bitrate, though probably not incredibly different.

No, same production and post pipeline as TNG in it's 5th season. The lighting of the show wasn't set yet, so it looks different...a lot darker and grainier.

I don't care if they do a remastered DS9 if they won't use the oppoturnity to fix the fleet battles to look less ridicilous.

As in make them look like actual fleets instead of "let's copypaste the screen full of every single starship model we have in our stock library so they all look like they're flying about five meters apart from each other".

And no amount of HD fixes is gonna fix the characterization anyway.

Yeah, that could be it. I did a re-watch a year or so ago and I just remember it looking a little rough at the start but then quite lovely after a little while. It helps to have a really good upscaling player, which was a priority for me.

They're better than the PAL DVDs, then! They start off looking rough for the first few seasons, and then the sharpness improves but they added some smeary DNR and the compression gets worse, too. But y'know what? I still enjoyed the heck out of my last DS9 runthrough on DVD, it's such a fantastic show.
