Whoops I meant the Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon pairing. Somehow a paragraph got deleted, I'm still getting used to my new tablet.

So far I have these, if anyone knows where the rest are from let me know, thanks! (each picture is numbered from 1 to 10)

1. Audience belonging to the Joker's televised massacre from the Dark Knight Returns
2. Jack Nicholson's Joker (from the TV commercial he made for Joker products, 1989)
3. Cesar Romero's Joker (first appearance dressed as Pagliacci from 1966)
4. Heath Ledger's Joker (from the scene where he is in prison 2008)
5. A death in the family (comic book)
6. Mad Love reference? Or a New 52 Suicide Squad one?
7. The laughing fish (from the Batman Animated Series and comic books)
8. Batman 1 (1940) opening splash page, which was then lifted for the cover of the Man who Laughs
9. Maybe that weird imp that Joker palled around with in the Silver Age?
10. Laffco factory (from the Batman Animated Series)
Fixed two at least.

Seeing this in theater tonight!

The animation looks pretty poor from the trailers I've seen. But I know this is one of the definitive Batman stories, so I should get to know it. And a number of the DC animated movies are quite good, so hopefully this sets a precedent for them debuting in limited theatrical engagements, instead of DTV. Otherwise, I just catch them when they hit Redbox or Netflix.

The animation is definitely not the best, but it is nice and fluid with the exception of one scene.

It's a shame they felt the need to extend it they way they did

This didn't do it for me unfortunately. The opening chunk of the movie was way too slow, and it made the movie feel very disjointed.
[Show spoiler]I hated the addition of Batgirl and Batman dating too.
Under the Red Hood handled this kind of story much, much better.

I'll be only able to see this on Tuesday, the release date. I'll try to watch it with an open mind.

The next Batman DCAU movie is called "Batman and Harley Quinn". Could it be an adaptation of the one-shot story published in October 1999? I remember having liked it but it wasn't an "extraordinary" story but still a good introduction to Harley Quinn in the comic universe.

EDIT: Just found this:

Quote:
Finally, 2017’s lineup of DC Animated Original Movies will conclude with Batman and Harley Quinn, a completely original story from Bruce Timm, the co-founder of the DC Animated Universe and co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series. Not much is known about this film yet, but we should find out more closer to the release. // Source: http://www.tvovermind.com/movies/bat...vies-announced
I truly hope that Batman: The Long Halloween and Batman: Dark Victory will be adapted someday, maybe both in two parts as they are rather long stories.

[Show spoiler]I wouldn't say they were dating in the movie. They just had sex.

Don't care about this movie but baffled by the articles I am seeing that take offense to Batman and Batgirl getting it on. They're both adults, women tend to like older men, he's not a grandpa. Good lord.

I don't take offense to it, and even think it can be done well. I just felt it was shoehorned in to this adaption, adding nothing of substance to this arc and was stupid.

I don't know if it's considered "home video" but The Killing Joke was available for purchase on iTunes as of Monday July 25. I know, because I bought it and watched it right away.

From what I've seen, a lot of the people complaining are the Twitter/Tumblr Warrior types. They were originally screaming to high heaven when it was confirmed that this movie was going to keep in the part where Joker strips Barbara down to her underwear to take pictures so he could mess with her father's head even more. As usual they wanted something censored that they didn't agree with or found "problematic".

After that most of those same types started complaining about the sex aspect because the writers said they wanted to give her more of an arc in the story then just being there to get shot by the Joker, how it was in the original comic. People cried to high heaven when they found out part of her arc was having sex.

The thing they chose to ignore for the sake of complaining was in the scene where her and Batman have sex, she's in full control and instigated it. Basically it may have had to do with a female having sex but she was the one empowered by it rather than the guy making the moves on her.

I think that whole new segment wasn't needed but even as a hardcore fan of Batman comics it didn't bother me that they hooked up. Yeah, he's supposed to be more of a father figure to her but I don't care when it comes to cartoons.

I was under the impression it was 7:30pm and 10:00pm nationwide, some people in the theater said 7:00pm. When we left the theater we noticed behind the box office window the large LED reader board announcing showtimes for films. They had Killing Joke listed twice, at 7:00pm which read "Sold out" and then listed again for 7:30pm. That was what was causing the confusion, since there technically only the two 7:30pm/10:00pm times. Oh well, we walked away with a free ticket for anything else and a refund of our ticket price so not a total loss.
