I think they chose January 2022, because December 2021 is the 25th anniversary of the original, but December is already stacked with releases.

I think it’s the opening scene because of the callbacks to the original Drew Barrymore opening - the fog, the swing hanging from the tree - it all feels like a perfect homage.

And by comparison, the opening of Scream with Barrymore took five nights to film - they are filming at this house for four. So it could easily be for the new opening sequence.

3 crew members have tested positive with COVID. Though sounds like filming can continue for now as they seemed to have little interaction with the cast, directors, or cinematographer (thanks to safety protocols) which would require production shutdown had they been among those testing positive

FWIW,

[Show spoiler]the post has since been updated to remove Skeet. Maybe he will return in some way to "haunt" Sid or they will, dare I say, de-age Neve, Marley, and Skeet, for some flashbacks. Though the idea of Sid constantly seeing people that remind her of what Billy would've looked like older (meaning quick cuts to Skeet actually being there) would be pretty cool. Showing that no matter how strong she gets, she still reverts back to the fear she always felt. After all, this would be her 5th(!) involvement with some grisly murders. 6th if you count her mother's murder as a separate event that affected her.

[Show spoiler]This isn't some deep horror movie stroyline that needs to go "back in time". They tried that in 3, and IMO it failed miserably. There's no scenario where having Skeet in this movie will be a good thing. Once again, IMO
