Jodorowsky. Nope, never going to happen because it was never made. It did lead to other things in a way though...

It's a great documentary. I am still waiting on the BD to drop in price.

It's a pretty good documentary and well worth watching, but I don't think Dune fans would have liked the final movie very much. The documentary details several major changes that Jodorowsky was making to the story (much greater than any of the changes Lynch made in his adaptation) .

It also looks like that the DE release that contains both cuts with better PQ on the theatrical cut than the US disc is now OOP.

The BD is great. I have it in my Owned 2 section of my collection. Jodorowsky was way too ambitious.

Watched this last night - a fellow forummer kindly lent it to me.

Its great and I'm definitely on the lookout to buy this one for myself now. Jodorowsky is still mad and passionate about the film even now and I love his refusal to compromise! He is very complimentary about Lynch but not so complimentary about Lynch's Dune. Lets just say if you think Lynch's Dune is mad....Jodorowsky's Dune would have been unbelievable!

I will watch my flipper disc extended cut DVD tonight and see if mine is still ok. If it is, I will make a back-up of it onto DVD+R media as flipper discs in general have a higher failure rate than single sided dvds.

Is that the one that came in a steelbook? I remember mine had problems playing when I bought it on release. Thought it was just my player at the time.

Mine is in a steelbook, too. I am going to test the extended cut tonight; the theatrical I have on blu-ray, so I am only concerned about the extended cut side of the flipper disc.

Why haven't they released the extended Alan Smithie cut of the movie on blu-ray yet?

As much of a fan as I am of Lynch's, and appreciate Dune, I prefer the extended version of the film.

My first copy skipped on some of the special features, as I recall. I exchanged it at BB about a week later, got the last copy they had.

I prefer the extended TV edit also. It’s a shame the deleted material involving the ‘blue within blue’ eye effects were left unfinished.

I have the early Australian DVD steelbook release which contains both edits.

I don’t think the TV edit was ever released on Blu-ray in Australia - but I’d be interested if it was.

Same here. You want to import this one. It’s region-free, has the extended cut in its proper widescreen aspect ratio, and is all-around gorgeous.

Agreed. They added those scenes back in for the extended cut without adding the blue effect for the eyes.

The animated intro (which is really not animated, but still paintings), is what I love most. That prelude helps set up the film and gives you some of the historical background information from the books about the Butlerian Jihad and the various mental conditioning schools and houses of the Landsraad. I also prefer the old voice of the narrator (who was that, BTW?) to the original intro with Virgina Madsen, even though I do find her attractive.

My flipper disc flopped, too. I made it all the way to chapter 8 at 1 hour 22 minutes into the film when it froze up.

I ordered the German import blu-ray that Filmmaker provided the link for, so now I hope to have this extended cut in high definition.

Still a shame, though, as the flipper dvd came in a nice steel case. No need for it now, either.

I am trying to back up the dvd, but I suspect that will fail. It is taking forever to read the data on it.
