So the Signature Series is half the price: Is the picture quality that dramatic an improvement going to 4K? I’ve read many things on this thread and was curious about that as well.

This movie has a lot of ornate costumes and set dressing that the 4k resolution shows off better. It's not a demo disc or anything but it's one of those 35mm 4k scans that actually benefits from the resolution bump a lot more than modern 2k digital movies do.
The HDR adds some nice texture to torch-lit scenes and whatnot. |

I should of gotten this when there was a drop in price at Best Buy for the 4K some month's ago but didn't at the time would like to upgrade and get ride of the blu-ray i have sometime soon will wait on another good/better price.

Sadly the color timing is still not favorable to my eyes. After all this time the Superbit DVD is still my go to for this film.

I actually understand the guy. I love acidic colors of early home releases. It gives the film more surreal feel, imo. That's why I still keep those.
Also, Superbit DVD is nicely bright with great shadow detail. It's better than on UHD, which is a bit too dark and even crushes a few shots here and there. |
