Filming has officially wrapped in London, now they are headed for a month of filming in Hawaii and that will finish off filming.

What does that even mean? JW didn't do anything outrageously silly or out of place.

The main complaint about JW actually IS the out of place silliness. It's a returning issue in almost all of the reviews. It has been discussed endlessly in these topics. One might not agree, but that doesn't change the fact it's a common problem people had with it. Even the crew of JW2 (JP5) mentioned how they wanted to avoid it.

Of course there won't be a trailer soon, they still have over a month of filming to do in Hawaii.

As cool as it is, and I have fond memories of it, JP's is better:

Goosebumps.

I've seen that JP teaser many years ago. There's even a high quality version of it at JPdatabase website. It is arguably the best teaser and perfectly captures the mysterious mood of the novel and the film. The JP2 teaser is very scary but not at all meaningful unlike this one above. It was a callback to the popularity of the T-Rex from the first film.

Here’s Why ‘Jurassic World 2’ Will Be the Franchise’s Scariest:

[Show spoiler]
Quote:
In a new chat with Cinema Blend, Jurassic World director/Jurassic World 2 producer Colin Trevorrow spoke a bit about the sequel’s scary side, touching upon the reasons the dinosaurs will be more terrifying this time around.

“J.A Bayona is very good at [creating scares],” he told the site. “There are things that he’ll just do with a shadow, or a rustling curtain on a wall. He’s so tapped into that kind of fear, especially the fear through the eyes of a child. He and I are just simpatico, as an American and a Spanish person. We may be the mirrors of each other. It is by far the most satisfying collaboration of my life.”

Trevorrow added, “First of all I think the mainstream loves being scared, and I think the scares in the first movie were made to make children think like they were seeing something horrifying, that their parents shouldn’t be allowing them to see. We have that a little bit here. But there’s also that same big, fun adventure, sweeping, romantic kind of action in part of the movie. That people seemingly responded really well to. We’re not throwing it all way, but we’re definitely going to some new places.”

The entire Indominus breakout and attempt to capture it. The Raptors turning on and attacking the team. Stuff like that.

Colin Trevorrow Details His Jurassic World 2 Involvement
By Silas Lesnick on June 8, 2017

Colin Trevorrow explains how he has remained heavily involved with Jurassic World 2

Colin Trevorrow is a very busy man. Even as his 2015 Jurassic World became one of the highest-grossing films of all time, the filmmaker immediately began working to direct Gregg Hurwitz‘s long-gestating script, The Book of Henry. The unconventional family drama is set to hit the big screen next week and we’ll soon be bringing you an in-depth conversation with Trevorrow about the project and his impressive professional trajectory that has him next writing and directing Star Wars: Episode IX. Now, though, we’re taking a look at another major release that Trevorrow is closely tied to: the still officially-untitled Jurassic World 2.

“That script had to be delivered for a February shoot,” Trevorrow recalls speaking with CS, “And we had to think of ‘Star Wars’ somewhat simultaneously… While we were in the early stages of story on ‘Star Wars,’ we shot ‘Jurassic’ at Pinewood. Now, we’re wrapping in about a month and everyone is going to Hawaii.”

Although Trevorrow passed along the Jurassic World 2 director’s chair to The Impossible and A Monster Calls director J.A. Bayona, he himself provided the screenplay for the franchise sequel with his Safety Not Guaranteed partner Derek Connolly. What’s more, Trevorrow tells us that level of dedication to the film wound up being even more than he initially suspected.

“‘Jurassic’ ended up taking up more time and attention than I expected just because I care about it so much,” he says. “I surprised myself by how much I wanted to be there for J.A. [Bayona], just as a writer. I remember directing a ‘Jurassic Park’ movie and how much I would have loved to have a writer to think about the dailies and wonder what alterations we could make that would make it that much more effective. I was there with him every day to try and provide something for him that I didn’t have myself.”

“[Jurassic World 2] is a more collaborative filmmaker experience, not only with Colin Trevorrow, but also with Steven [Spielberg] and with Frank Marshall,” Bayona said of the partnership in an interview with CS last year. “It’s their baby as much as it is mine. It’s about sharing views and working together to bring the story to life. But, at the same time, the way I face telling a story is to find something very personal. I think there will be plenty of myself also in the film.”

Jurassic World 2 will see the return of Jurassic World‘s Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard alongside Toby Jones, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Ted Levine, James Cromwell, Geraldine Chaplin and, reprising his Jurassic Park and The Lost World role, Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm.

Look for Jurassic World 2 to hit theaters June 22, 2018.

I was re-editing it, but you caught me. I failed at trying to embed a twitter post here. That was the unfortunate byproduct.

Jurassic World 2 being shot digitally on Arri Alexa 65. Hawaii prep has begun -

https://twitter.com/ChrisLikesDinos/...738176/photo/1

Personally, I feel sad knowing that they abandoned film, which brought so much realism with its grit, grain, gorgeous colours and high contrast organic photography for the last four films. Bayona shot all of his movies on film, except 'A Monster Calls.' Now suddenly he lets go of film altogether.

No matter 4K or 6K, digital images will never look like film. They almost always have that artificial sheen and a "very clean" and stable image. Spielberg was so insistent on film, John Schwartzman had said in an interview before JW came out. It seems Spielberg has much less involvement this time around. Perhaps having shot a live action movie digitally, he feels he cannot force others to work on film. Or maybe he's no longer that mentally invested in the franchise.

Alexa 65 is the best digital camera in the industry now but it has a wholly different aesthetic than film. I also don't understand that Colin Trevorrow, who shot The Book of Henry on 35mm and is shooting Star Wars IX wholly on 65mm film formats was unable to have this movie shot on film.

Anyway, the images can look good, like 'Rogue One,' or look really bland, like 'Passengers;' both shot on Alexa 65.

Bruh. It's called the future. Shooting on film is a dying format. Which is being left in the past. Everyone is all about digital because that's the future of making movies.

This is pretty much the bottom line, no matter how anyone feels about it.
