So apparently the people that can afford the good seats at Yankee Stadium either couldn't get work off or didn't want to sit in the cold, because the crowd behind the plate was pretty sparse.

LOL it may just mean a lot of the more wealthy Yankees fans feel the same way most of us do, that the Yankees are old and probably won't be contending for a title this year without bolstering their pitching staff.

That's nothing new. I noticed the same things watching a few Yankee games on TV last season. There are always a large number of box seats empty. I know they sell those tickets. Guess it's just rich season ticket holders too lazy to make most games.

So I had no idea about these Directv negotiations taking place with the YES network...WTF..they couldn't have taken care of this in the off-season? I pay $120 a month for Directv and have been a loyal customer for 10 years. If they do not agree to carry YES then I am discontinuing my service. Anyone else have Directv? I just found out about this today.

That stinks. I just get my cable from my local carrier - Brighthouse. Even in Central Florida I get YES as one of my channel. I'm sure angry Yankee fans all across the country are hounding Directv if that's the case.

I can't get cable where I'm at lol..yes, I live in the woods. So I can only get satellite. I will be calling them shortly to voice my opinion. Only reason I have directive is because of YES. I'd rather go back to dish and save money. This is insane...can't believe I won't be watching baseball this summer.

i have Directv also, and i very mad at this, i pay about $200 a month for Directv but it, always the network fault!

That's absolutely ridiculous that Directv can't come to an agreement airing Yankees games. Heck, my local cable carrier had problems getting a new deal done to carry Orlando Magic games a few years back and they received so much hate from angry fans they caved rather quickly to get the deal done. Directv is probably getting far worse from angry Yankee fans who are just today finding out they can't watch the games.

Both the YES Network and DirecTV have begun advertising the fact their carriage agreement will expire Friday.

The network ran a crawl during today’s pregame of the New York Yankees’ season opener against the Detroit Tigers and also ran advertisements, urging subscribers to call DirecTV.

The satellite service ran a graphic instructing concerned viewers to check out http://support.directv.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3185.

“We are simply asking for the same rate that YES charges the other three dominant TV providers in the market,” a DirecTV statement said, referring to Comcast, Cablevision and Time Warner.

The DirecTV message further stated, ”If YES Network goes dark, MLB Extra Innings and NBA League Pass customers will continue to see Yankees and Nets games but will not have access to the YES Network feed. In most instances DirecTV will provide the opposing team’s feed for these packages. If you receive YES Network as your local RSN, unfortunately these games will not be available.”

3:45 p.m.: YES just came out with the following (meaningless) statement: “We are negotiating in good faith with DirecTV in hopes of resolving this matter quickly.”

So as of tomorrow there will be no YES network.

If my old man was alive he'd be flipping sh&! right now.

Happy opening day everyone ! Spring is here and every team is tied for first place. Nobody is picking my Mets to be very good. They're probably right, but here's hoping the Amazins suprise.
