I really liked the youngest kid too. Good casting, no doubt. But the Robinson character was there to be an annoying teenager and never had a moment where he changed a bit or at least showed us he could be likeable in some way. I blame the writers. His "Meh, everything is lame." thing never disappeared and described exactly how I felt about him.

Photos off a screen are kinda useless, but look at that teal on Lost World. Gonna be people crying revisionist if that color grading comes home, but there it is on 35mm.

They are not totally "useless." The frame grab does reflect the overall look of the projected prints, especially colour tone and detail.
And yes, warm and teal-orange-brown type colour timing is not a DI-era invention. It was a predominant fixture of almost all major studio blockbusters. It's there in John McTiernan's 1987 'Predator' as well. There is a video on youtube of a Predator screening. The greens and yellows look very similar to JP2's 35mm screening. I'm kinda sure JP1 and JP3 looked similar as well. It was the "blockbuster" look, probably. From late 200s, the trend shifted towards gray-ashen, desaturated tones. And now it's again back to more colourful territory. |

That said, I watched Jurassic Word for the second time last night after not caring much for it the first time and I liked it far better. There are some decent enough ideas in there, the action scenes do deliver and the cast manages to rise above the thinly written material. |
