It was the worst when one of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailers dropped and every one was complaining that they showed too much and they were upset that they spoiled some scenes. Well, who's fault is that? It's your (the viewer) fault for deciding to gamble and watch the trailer.
What if you go to the movies and you see a trailer for another movie that spoils it?

Well, of course I'm gonna watch it, and I'll surely love it (I'm only human for Christ's sake); I wasn't really complaining about possibly seeing too much, I'm saying that I LIKE how little they've decided to show us. For the most part, "It" still has a lot of mystery to it, which is saying a lot considering how much I've been obsessing over this remake over the last couple of years.

I close my eyes, and sometimes even block my ears, for the theatrical trailers of most films I'm anticipating. It's not the film's or filmmaker's fault when the marketing team sucks.

Not to mention this is only BASED off the book. A film is it's own entity. People are acting like they need to make it exactly like the book. Probably the same people that are mad there won't be a big sex scene featuring children.

Exactly, we haven't seen anything yet. Judging the new Pennywise based off a few shots and a trailer is just plain stupid. We don't know anything about what this version is like.

In the one scene with Georgie...for like 3 seconds. The rest of the time, the kids are shitting themselves from it. He doesn't lure them in. He scares the piss out of them, then eats them. Pennywise as a FORM isn't even in the book that much, it's just IT'S preferred form.

I honestly think people never read the book, and have pre-conceived notions of what Pennywise actually "is supposed to look like."

Does David Fincher personally overlook his films marketing? Every trailer and poster put out for his movies is top notch.

Not sure about trailers, but for posters he works really close with designer Neill Kellerhouse.

Just near finishing up the book for the third time ever (about 200 pages left), twice within the last three years, and the whole deal of people complaining that the fleeting glimpses of 'Pennywise the Dancing Clown' in the new trailers is not attractive enough to children is so freakin' off. I love Tim Curry's shtick in the 90's made for tv movie, and Pennywise did 'joke' with the children in the book, but only as a way to relate to them, and mostly just scare the shit out of them. It was his main M.O., but he was many different scary monsters in the book. He was
[Show spoiler]Dracula, the Mummy, Frankenstein, the Werewolf, the Eye! and even Paul Bunyan!
In fact, he was a
[Show spoiler]God/Demon/Alien inter-dimensional being that came to Earth millions of years ago,
and appeared as what scared you most. When he confronted Patrick Hockstetter who was a psychopath, he kept trying to turn into some shape that would scare him, but since Pat thought everyone was a figment of his own imagination, It appeared as a many face changing melting face.

I am probably more excited for this movie than any other this year, and I really wish there was some talk of the second part. This thing broke some records with trailer viewing, didn't it? That should've helped lock in the part 2. That's the one thing that really pisses me off about this movie. It's a two-parter, the way it's written in the book, and the way the movie is being marketed. Why no mention of this? Why wait to see how good this first part goes? Half of the story happens when they're kids, half 27 years later.

I will see this no matter what, but I would think that the promise of the second part of the story would only help bolster sales for the first one. This will be the horror movie event of the year. Can't wait for some official confirmation of the second half of the story.
