If you see it in the theater, you're still blind buying.

Yea, but with blind buying a Blu-ray that sucks, at least you can resell it and get some of your money back. And if you like it, you can watch it over and over. Theaters don't give you that option.

Not only that, but I have a 2 and a 4 year old, so going to the theaters is something that must be planned well in advance with babysitters and all. And I'd hate to waste that time on a crap movie.

This movie has the best visuals that I've seen in a long time, if not ever.

If there is a 3D showing around your area, see it there. 2D, even Blu-ray, does not do this movie justice.

Which is why I would rather buy a Blu than bother seeing a movie in the theater.

I hear ya there. I have a 3 year old and 4 month old twins. Going to the theater is very rare these days.

If you are a James Cameron fan (ie-hard) blind-buy it AND see it in cinemas

If you are not following JC career I would seriously consider either watching it in 3D in cinemas,or wait until someone you consider having a trustworthy opinion to give you her or his opinion

Personally not such a fan of JC,but he has made several interesting movies so will see it in theaters.

the way i look at is that you will spend close to $10 on the movie. lately you can get new releases for $20 easy. i say save an extra $10 and get the movie and have it forever.

There are 2 versions of Blu-rays coming out(one 3-D and the other non 3-D).

The one I'll buy is the 3-D version which out in late 2010.

Till then I'll just go and watch it in the theaters.

The intire point of this film is to get people to go back in to theatre's, it made to be seen there, if you are going to blind buy it, wait intill the 3D version comes out.

But I'm gonna straight up, watch it in 3D in the theatre and you will of at least of experianced it how it is suppost to have been witnessed.

Unless you have an IMAX 3-D setup in what would be a cavernous basement, go see it in theatres.

Theatre is still the way I see most movies first, as I've found one in my area that always does excellent projection. I've never believed that a home setup, no matter how expensive, can replace the theatre experience. It's not only about the movie, it's about the whole communal experience with your fellow man.

At least with most of my local theaters. Dang teenaged/adolescent/young-adult cubans talking throughout the ENTIRE movie. No matter what movie it is.

I'll be seeing this in 3D, not sure if I want to blind buy this one. Plus, I want to experience this in the theater.

"elements"

did you see the same movie?

...seems that was one of, if not the main point.

If not a "tree hugger," what then? -- Fume Sucker?

I would see it in 3D IMAX. Regardless if it's the largest or smaller IMAX screen, the visual effects in this film are much more refined than early 3D movies. In my opinion it is a very enveloping story as it is, with beautiful special effects. The IMAX 3D will add an added dimension of being on "Pandora". I'd see it in the theater, but to each their own

While this seems like a unique movie experience to see in the theaters thanks to the effects and the unprecedented dollars spent on production value, the story and writing do not merit repeat viewing. Movies that don't stand up to repeat viewing aren't worth adding to your library.
