I agree that we need to buy more blu-ray movies this week. For one thing, Amazon is short-changing us by not having any Kubrick blu-ray movies in stock. I'm angry Amazon for that! Also, all my pre-orders from Warner Home Video hasn't shipped. So, the sale of these discs won't be counted this week.

I'll go out and buy Meet The Robinsons today at least.

On the issue of the WHV delays, those sales are only relevant to Nielson if Warner reports them.
I don't see why they would feel the need to; they know how much product they're moving.

This post made me lose several IQ points.

I guess that quoted post applies to a bunch of the rest of you out there from the OP of this thread on down who dare to not be frothing at the mouth today in fanboyisms and zealotry over holding on to a mere 51/49 sales lead.

"Stupendous victory", my aching ass.

Sorry my standards for real and absolute victory are a lot higher, more absolute, and far more definitive than this.

"Mission accomplished"... Not yet.

Frikkin' A dude - it's a breeze from here on in.

There just aren't enough HD DVD players out there to make Transformers dominate like it did this week next week, not with such a prolific release schedule from both sides underway, much more prolific of course on the Blu-ray side of things.

Transformers almost got HD DVD to 50/50
Spider-man 3 will almost get Blu-ray to 80/20 (if not higher)

I certainly think the short term spike and mileage for TF is more or less spent. This is the high point, possibly for HD-DVD ever. (It had better be.)

I fully expect to see BD surge and seperate from here on out.

A sales week that was all but conceded to HDDVD two weeks ago, and Blu-ray squeaks by with a big sale. Some BD fans are happy. What's wrong with that? A lot, apparently.

I only have one issue with all the silly numbers why do they not include the WalMart sales figures for either format? Wally World is a big player in DVD sales numbers some say as much as 40% of DVD sales come out of Wally World not to sure if that is fact or not but that is a huge number IMHO. Also did anyonew catch the new outpouring of Wally support with the new 198 dollar HD player from Toshiba. Reports are that it is 198 now and may hit 149 for black Friday. That could pose to move a large number of units by my calculations even if each Wally World got 30 units by 4300 stores that it a large ammount of hardware hitting the public. So we will have to wait and see what the XMas season brings for both sides it could get tight if Toshiba and Wally World pull this off what does that do for the Wally World support of Blu if they move large numbers the disks will soon follow and that could hurt the support of Blu in those stores.

I do not think Wal Mart sales numbers are relevent to HD DVD versus Blu-Ray.

Most Wal mart stores have maybe 1 or 2 Blu-Ray titles in stock & many have ZERO HD DVD titles in stock.

The titles are locked away in the PS3 display.

My local Wal Mart which is a Super-Wal mart has Transformers in SD only.

I believe it is because of Wal-Mart and their refusal to give out sales numbers.

I see that Blu held on this week and should return to at least 60-40 next week. One question though, will all the specials and big film names cause a hangover in overall HD/Blu sales after Spiderman releases? Certainly HD-DVD will fall off a lot this week. Will Blu buyers catch their breath as we lead up to a post thanksgiving frenzy?

Also, does the $200 Toshiba A2 just announced at wallyworld give anyone pause? It's 1080i but (like I said in earlier posts) that is the usual price point for 2nd tier shoppers. A lot of people have 720p/1080i TVs out there.

To the above poster, my Wal-Mart has about 20 movies of each type but the manager I talked with said that sales are pretty slow for both formats, usually 2 or 3 a week. I guess that is what I would expect if sales are sub 1 million spread out over the entire country.

My wallet says that this should be another good week for Blu. I bought 4 of the Kubrick films and Hollow Man from Bestbuy, Meet the Robinsons and Scary Movie from Wal-mart, The Company and Mr Brookes from Amazon, and also The Fly finally shipped from Amazon this week. 10 titles to help keep us on top

why could be, do a search. A few years ago WM decided they did not need VS and dropped out saying they are big enough not to need to report their numbers.

...industrywide U.S. sales data have been hamstrung by the omission of the country’s biggest retailer since 2001, when Wal-Mart stopped sharing its figures. “Our competitors were getting more out of the third-party data aggregation than we were, so it made more sense for us to stop,” a Wal-Mart spokesman told Information Week at the time.
