You wouldn't possibly be able to rip the audio track off of the JP release and make it available would you? I'd love to sync it up with my US blu. I've heard how much better it's supposed to sound, but I'm not paying the astronomical price for the JP blu to find out. :-\

I have the Japanese Digipak and I found the sound to be a bit better. I haven't opened any of the True HD steels I have to direct compare but I had the first amaray release and I recall having to adjust the volume a bit on that one.
I'd like to get the LD partly for the AC3 and partly because I'm a Mann Fann. (I have Manhunter and LOTM on LD, still want Thief and I have to get Keep again!). I'll agree some of the LD soundtracks sound better personally. I understand the blu is lossless, but like what was said above its not always about the clarity it's also about the impact. I like my LD DTS Jurassic park more than the blu. Just need to sync them up. I was watching Green Lantern the other day and one scene had some nice bass and I noticed I had forgotten to switch back to Lossless( it was going through in THX surround). Switched it over and no bass. Sure it sounded clearer, but the bass added to that scene. |

Lol you're right. I have the box side facing out and I always think it's a Digipak. My True Romance, that's a Digipak. I had taken a bunch of pics of Heat, I thought I had posted in the main Heat thread but maybe I didn't? I will. When I get around to it.

1. The Warner 2. The Japanese The Japanese version is the best. Has very slightly better video quality and clearly better (IMO) audio quality, well audio levels to be exact. They both have the same extras, except the Japanese one has them on a separate (blu ray) disc (audio commentary aside, of course): ![]() The extras are also upscaled to 1080i with high bit rates on the Japanese release. It should be mentioned that the JP doesn't have English subtitles, which the Warner does. Good luck finding the Japanese release for under $100, as it's been long OOP. |

I have started a petition for this, please sign.
https://www.change.org/p/warner-home...ersary-edition With all the amazing film stills and scenes, I prefer a slipcover with a photobook like Goodfellas. But with the black posterartwork as cover and not a new photoshopartwork: https://d12vb6dvkz909q.cloudfront.ne...vie-poster.jpg |

The original blu-ray was already remastered for the HD release, so I think anyone expecting anything more than a re-encode (which it would certainly benefit from) transfer-wise is setting themselves up for disappointment. And since the original BD looks and sounds fine (except for the atrocious compression) I'm okay with that.

Compare Heat with The Insider or Thief, there transfers looks much better. I know, different filmstock, but the existing Blu-ray of Heat is decent, not phenomenal. |

On August 11th, 2015 Warner has a re-release planned. With a lot more Warner titles.... Hopefully that October release still stands.

I've been maintaining "the discipline" as McCauley calls it and resisting packaging fetish impulses and not buying the Steelbook for months. Here's hoping that this is not only a remaster, but an indication that Heat will be amongst WHV's first UHD BDs.
