Sadly, not what could have been a classic of cinema:

I watched the trailer for Three Wishes for Cinderella on the Second Run site and immediately ordered a copy from HMV - it looks a pure delight!

HMV

Funny how most trailers these days put me off from seeing a film but this was the complete opposite!

Was panicked Beauty and the Beast was OOP. It was the lone straggler from my Arrow sale order (despite being in stock when I ordered), and they just e-mailed me to cancel it claiming they couldn’t source stock… Except it’s literally in stock right now on their store, of course at a higher non-sale price. Just Arrow store things, I guess 🤷

I guess it would state so on the Second run homepage if so, I think the War trilogy is still in stock there at least.

Doubt the War Trilogy it’s out of print, since it’s available from a second Run’s website. ARROW probably just sold out of how much they had on hand.

The Barnabáš Kos Case arriving in March. Another one previously teased to tick off the list!

And that has absolutely made my day. A beautiful film and another tour de force performance from Iva Janzurova.

I’m a massive fan of Juraj Herz, so any release of one of his films is worth celebrating, however OIL LAMPS was one film of his I just couldn’t get into, for whatever reason. I saw it as part of a Herz’s double bill with either “Beauty and the Beast” or “Morgiana” (my memory sucks!), and whilst I loved that film, OIL LAMPS left me cold, which frustrated me because it has a great reputation.
Anyway, I look forward to giving the film a second chance on this new Second Run blu ray, which for that reason alone, makes me very excited for this release news.

Good news! Maybe that explains why Radiance were having trouble licensing Jude films? Or perhaps they swapped rights to a Jude film for Reichardt’s River of Grass…

Speaking of Jude, it's kind of a pain that Jude's Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World hasn't been given a physical release. I guess Sovereign giving a physical release to Memoria was just a one-off.

Guessing after doing special editions of both Memoria and Eddie Gray they decided not to bother with any others. Shame as I was particularly hoping they might release Alonso’s Eureka on Blu-ray at least (and yes, the two Jude films as well seemed fairly likely too, as well as Petrov’s Flu and The Cow That Sang a Song Into the Future). I wonder if another label could license from them, such as Radiance?

Fran mentioned somewhere how he attempted to license the recent Jude films, but from what I gather to no avail. I suspect others have attempted as well.
At least Second Run and Vinegar Syndrome have noted the general lack of Jude on BD and decided to license out his earlier work.

Yup, I suggested it to Radiance when they first asked for suggestions. IIRC, it was briefly available to stream on MUBI around that time (I missed it).

Great suggestion. I have the Artificial Eye DVD, and it doesn't look so hot

I seconded that! I’ve been hoping for a release of it on Blu for years!
