ROTJ is my favorite of the original 3. I too realize it isn't perfect, but like you said, the really awesome parts of the movie more than make up for the weak parts and IMO are some of the strongest of the entire trilogy. There's just so many cool things about seeing ROTJ back in 1982...

Seeing Jabba for the first time after hearing him mentioned in previous films.

Seeing Luke's green saber for the first time.

The Rancor sequence (I love this scene)

Yoda's death scene

The speeder bike sequences (was really cutting edge stuff in 1982)

The amazing Emperor/Vader/Luke sequences

The revelation of Leia being Luke's sister

Hearing the name "Anakin Skywalker" for the first time.

The redemption of Vader/Anakin.

Seeing the emperor's bad ass force lightning for the first time.

The epic final scene of seeing Anakin, Yoda, and Obi-Wan standing together as force ghosts.


Hell I even enjoy the Ewoks and back then I never heard anybody complain about them. It really wasn't until the internet did I start hearing so many SW fans ***** about Ewoks. It was actually a bit of a shock to me.

and similar experience with J.J's lens flares. didn't know they were an issue until i turned on my internet .

fwiw, i've heard through the grapevine the all lens flares for The Force Awakens

are "in-camera" and anamorphic..if that means anything to anyone

Dually noted. I was born in 71 and I was eleven when ROTJ came out, that's why I said 82. However I just realized that it came out in May of 83 and I turned 12 in June of 83.

maybe it's best to keep strong women out of nerd movies. The last thing I want when I'm watching a movie is to have to see through an ocean of fedoras and then hear everybody complain about how the movie doesn't like them back the way they love it.

I hope they keep the number of toys, figures etc. released limited. Just enough so it's easy to track what's coming out and not be overwhelmed.

That being said this is Disney. So I don't expect it.
