Cant decide on whether to order it from HMV (its likely it will get here a few days before release, and i prefer HMV), or take a chance and order with Play.com to get the T-Shirt for no extra cost, but what are Play.com like for pre-orders?
Do they dispatch before release or on the release day?

Play usually ships the Friday before a Monday release, at least that's what happened with me. All their products get here more of less quickly. HMV and Play are a bit similar in packaging (i.e. just a roomy (HMV) or flimsy (Play) cardboard packet). But with the t-shirt included, there's a chance it'll be in a bigger, sturdier package. I have it pre-ordered for now and will see what turns out best.

The good:
Steelbook release
Survival guide to Pandora
Art cards
No special features on the BD disc so film can be maximised (my BD player may still feel the pain though, given its age)

The bad:
Play.com exclusive T-shirt for first 10,000 copies, but no indication of what size the T-shirt is
2nd disc is a DVD containing the same film? (Why bother putting the film on a DVD and including it in the same package. Would be much more feasable to have a 2nd BD disc packed with special features)
Jacked up price for a pretty looking film with a mediocre, unoriginal story

Steelbook artwork looks nice though. I hope those age ratings are stickers that come off easily.

Not a huge fan of the film, but I like the look of the steelbook. Shame it is a rather overpriced in my opinion compared to recent steelbooks releases e.g. District 9 which was about £18 on pre-order.

However, I can see this being overstocked by Amazon/HMV/Play (especially if the steelbook is released in multiple countries as I expect it to be) so the price may come down after the initial rush.

I've pre-ordered from HMV and will wait and see when the details of the Ultimate edition are annouced at the end of March. If the extras are too good to miss I can always cancel my pre-order for the standard steelbook.

What's the chance of the Ultimate edition or the 3D edition (whenever that finally gets released) also having a steelbook case?

James

Thanks Kynch, i've pre-ordered it from Play now aswell then.

Currently deciding on whether to leave my HMV one ordered aswell and get 2 copies, 1 to sell later on as its likely this SteelBook might be worth abit once its unavailable.
But £50 on 1 movie is not usually the amount i'd spend, so its difficult deciding

Maybe not - the print run just for play.com seems to be 10,000 copies at least.

Then you throw in HMV + amazon.co.uk....

Seems like quite a few copies...

Just placed my order on HMV.com/uk, but got charged full price, including VAT, for a delivery to Canada, wtf? Sent an email to find out why.

Does HMV.com (uk) have VAT added already in their prices, or is it added at checkout?

The zoomed in picture, you can see region B clearly, and it looks like region A *might* be before that - but you can't see it for sure, because the entire disc doesn't show.

Play are offering a voucher at the moment for £5 off purchases over £50

I added the Avatar Steelbook to my basket, followed by something that isnt out until later in the year, in this case, GTA5 for the PS3

The voucher then comes off Avatar, confirm your order, go back into it and cancel the other item, and the voucher stays in place on the Avatar release

Voucher code is PLANW10

There is a button on the right of one of the pages to click and put the code in

Well, A is always before B which is the only logical way, but who knows. I'm no expert
