Do it right and do it -DARK-, as it should be.
Many would say they're already dark compared to the lighthearted MCU.

SJW just want an accurate looking Roberto da Costa who is a Afro-Brazillian.

His skin color was a part of his origin story.

At this point since they didnt need to address this in DoFP, casual film goers probably dont care what he looks like.

Cause u know it should look like the comic book.

Oh, so Sunspot really is partly Afro-Brazilian then. I didn't know that. I always thought he was drawn as a stereotypical Latino.

They lighten his skin over the years.

The New Mutants reminded me of the International X-men team that Scott recruits to rescue his team. Thunderbird, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, and Wolverine.

Its a shame if they just homogenize the teens for the film.

It doesnt have to be super stereotypical, but Danielle Moonstar shoud have some sort of traditional reference in her look/clothing.

Cannonball look like a backwoods hillbilly and not a star quarterback.
Karma was the Vietnamese older teen who kicked Spider-Man's ass.
Sunspot was a Black kid, but with straight hair. Not the typical afro wearing character drawn before.
Wolfsbane looked like Scottish Sinead O'Conner w/ red-hair.

Yeah but Fox came in and butchered things. I would have loved to have seen his full and complete vision for that.

As a fan of the comics when I as growing up, I don't care, this horror tone sounds amazing.

The relatively short production-to-release window (July 2017 production start, April 2018 release) makes a lot more sense if it's more of a minimalist, trapped-in-one-location horror type film.

I dig it.

Actually I'll say the horror elements were probably the best thing about that movie (in particular, I thought the short scene of Dr Doom walking down the hall exploding heads was cool). It would've been interesting if Fox had let them go all out with a full Cronenberg style horror film. Sure, that may not have fit the tone of the comics, but the current film wasn't doing that either anyway.
Sadly, that was the only thing I genuinely liked in that mess.

That explains it. If the comics aren't consistent with continuity, then why should the films?

Isn't The New Mutants suppose to be what started the "All-New, All-Different" brand from Marvel? You know, back when Marvel wasn't too PC.

The New Mutants is 1985.

All-New, All-Different Marvel is 2015 merging The Ultimate Universe w/ the 616 after the Secret Wars.

Unless your talkin about to The New Universe Imprint in 1986.

Nevermind. I think I'm just being confused. I thought the "All-New, All-Different" term started with The New Mutants. But now I'm sure it meant All-New, All-Different X-Men.

Fox's 'New Mutants' casts newcomer Blu Hunt in Danielle Moonstar role

After an international search, the final New Mutant has been found.

Blu Hunt, a relative newcomer who appeared in a handful of episodes of The Originals, has nabbed the lead role of Danielle Moonstar, the Native American telepath, in Josh Boone’s X-Men spinoff, New Mutants.

The Fox movie has been casting up in recent weeks with the roll call including The Witch and Split star Anya Taylor-Joy, Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams, and Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton. Rosario Dawson is also in talks while 13 Reasons Why actor Henry Zaga is also a recent addition.

The studio is looking to redefine the superhero genre as it did with Deadpool and Logan, and is focusing on giving the spinoff a horror-thriller bent. It will tell of a five diverse teens learning to cope with their superpowers who must escape a secret facility in which they are being held against their will.

Taylor-Joy will play Illyana Rasputin, code-named Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel. Williams will portray Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, a Scottish girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf. Heaton is playing a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, who can propel himself into the air and is invulnerable while doing so. Zaga is playing Sunspot, a self-styled ladies man who hails from Brazil.

The last role to be filled was Moonstar, a character is who is Native American and who has the power to create illusions drawn from the fears and desires of a person's mind. The character is not only perhaps the most important in the script – according to sources, the movie’s plot leans heavily on the classic Demon Bear storyline that ran in the pages of the Marvel Comics title in the 1980s and the character is central in the script – but whose casting proved to be the most challenging as the studio and producers made ethnic authenticity a priority.

Searches were conducting nationwide in the US as well as Canada and the UK, among other countries, before the studio circled around Hunt, who is part Native American. CAA signed the actress hot off the search.

Hunt is quite new to the acting scene; she has appeared on a trickle of TV episodes, three being on the CW series The Originals. But with her being a key player in an X-Men franchise, expect the IMDb credits to begin racking up.

New Mutants is scheduled to go before cameras in July in Boston.

How will they pull him off?

All CGI like Rocket Racoon, Ultron, Hulk, etc?

Or maybe CGI/Bluescreen like Cyborg?

Or Transformers style....

I said this before, but I worry that it'll be easy for Warlock to fall into being a cross between Groot and Jar Jar Binks. I just think there are some minor but obvious similarities as far as looks (Groot) and personality (Jar Jar). So I really hope the filmmakers don't take the easy derivative road and go that way. They need to keep him unique, and if he's the comic relief of the team, he cannot be annoying like Jar Jar was.
