Funny how she's 1983 and Apocalypse is 1986.
Was her backstory fully established by Apocalypse or expanded later?

She was expanded on a lot, she feeds to extend for life. She was around before Atlantis sank.

I know Selene feeds but is it a disease where she needs to feed?

I know she does it to extend herself, but I dont recall if she's like Galactus who has a hunger and will die if he doesnt consume.

She just sustains her youth/life force....IIRC.

No I do not think she needs to feed to live. She uses is to increase her powers, and to take control of people.

They can easily be teens at the Mansion getting lessons from one or more of the X-Men. They dont need an Old Man leader if the mansion has already cranked out X-Men. Prof X. doesnt teach every class and tactical lesson there.

In the comics he was there in the early days and then wasnt around for a while.
They were getting into trouble w/out him and had a couple of adult handlers.
IIRC Stevie the X-Men's dance teacher was around then.

But didn't the synopsis revealed that these characters are being held in a secret facility against their will? Doesn't sound like the X-Mansion to me.

Same. I mean, I never got a horror vibe to The New Mutants comics I read. But who cares? This actually sounds cool. I never cared about movies staying loyal to the source material as many people may think. Besides, making this into a horror movie makes sense. These characters have abilities similar to the creatures and monsters that you see in horror movies. So when their mutation begins, they will be horrified by it.

I think they said they were using sci-fi and body horror influences, but not a full fledged horror movie like New Mutants is claiming to be.

Actually I'll say the horror elements were probably the best thing about that movie (in particular, I thought the short scene of Dr Doom walking down the hall exploding heads was cool). It would've been interesting if Fox had let them go all out with a full Cronenberg style horror film. Sure, that may not have fit the tone of the comics, but the current film wasn't doing that either anyway.

Oops! I forgot that Sunspot turns black in the comics. Kept thinking about the Sunspot from X-Men: Days of Future Past for some reason. Wait a minute, that's why SJWs want Sunspot to be played by a black actor? -_-
