I haven't seen the new movie and agree that plot point is kind of weird. I'm just saying with anime in general, and certainly Ghost in the Shell, the main characters are rarely obviously Asian in appearance. The original anime felt very "diverse future" to me, as the director of this said himself. It's not like it was some all Asian cast they whitewashed for the live action film. That's my only point.

As a Sociology teacher I've read tons of articles about Japan's obsession with "whiteness," which is a whole other matter, but related.

It all looks like a very safe and predictable project. Probably just worth buying second hand when price drops on 3D/4K release

I saw this yesterday and actually agree with their review. The 3D in this should have been way better. The Valerian trailer that was shown right before this was miles better. I won't be going out of my way to import a 3D version with a 4K steelbook readily available.

Another Scarlett Johansson sci fi that gets terrible reviews. I'm going to assume the movie is the same level of quality as Lucy.

Looks like I know how I'll be watching this one in 4K/HDR.

Odd, most are reporting upper medium with some stronger shoots, nearly all of which seems to have been framed with 3d in mind.

I think they mean that's what's coming in the month of April, but the issue itself will be labelled May '17. It should be dropping any time though.

I know that you acknowledged that it's based on a manga in the very next post, so I'm curious as to what you mean by this "isn't a comic book movie?" I don't get what you're trying to say.

pissed off bestbuy changed the steelbook to the red one. it was the same as the regular release artwork at first. not a fan of the red. red has nothing to do with the movie at all
