Woah, you'd have better odds hitting the lottery than get that many defective consoles, so I'm guessing there are things you might be able to do to prevent some of this hardware failure.

Do you have all your consoles hooked up through a good surge protector? Do you have smokers in your house? Do you clean and run the vacuum cleaner regularly? There's something going on that's shortening the life of your consoles. You should try figuring it out, so you don't keep going through this.

Zero problems, I have a launch 20 GB model. This thread only reaffirms how low the failure rate truly is.

My 60g launch PS3 failed on me after 6 days. The replacement has been running like a champ ever since!

My 60GB purchased back in Aug '07 crapped out Jun '08 (bad optical drive but that was from child "accident"). Replacement 60GB working like a champ, and child in question is no longer allowed anywhere within 100 feet of current PS3

Default No Problems... so far...

I have an 80 gb Motorstorm model — BC ROCKS!! that I've had for almost a year. Haven't had a single problem with it until I started playing Burnout Paradise last week. Since then it's froze on me 5x and 2 Blu-rays have frozen on me too, (Doomsday and SOP).

Has this happened to any of you?

I might have to call Sony for help if it happens again. Don't want to mess up my machine.

i've had my ps3 since launch day, after sleeping outside for 3 painstakingly long days, it was all worth it because my original 60gb ps3 is still running strong

Sony sold well over 5 million PS3s worldwide in 2007 alone, and you are going to form a MTBF hypothesis based on a sample size of 127 postings?? WTF, over.
