It's pretty much the only live concert you'll need on Blu-ray. If INXS' live show wasn't on 4K, R.E.M.'s Road Movie would be no. 1.
So...what about people that don't like R.E.M?

I haven't watched them yet but Eric Clapton's 24 nights box set has three blu-ray concerts in it. One rock show, a blues show and a show with an orchestra.

Then, I guess they're plum out of luck. I mean, besides, who doesn't like them? I certainly wouldn't trust anyone that doesn't.

Concerts I have on Blu-ray disc and highly recommend are:

1. Hans Zimmer Live In Prague
2. John Williams Celebration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic
3. John Williams Live In Vienna

I am partial to movie soundtracks. These are in my library.

Still need to get this but I have the Dvd. Wild show with the Cramps letting the mental patients get on stage and sing. It is quite the time capsule. I must have saw them 8 times in the late 70's/early 80's in Hollywood and Fullerton. Crazy times...

Yeah it's a bit silly to compare something as wholly subjective as musical taste to one of the four primary vital signs of life. REM are a great band who have enjoyed massive success throughout their career, whether you like them or not has zero bearing on whether I trust you or not. I'd hate to have to whittle down my 100+ Blu-ray/4K concerts to just one lol.

I would like to see more 4K HDR disc releases of concerts.

I think that 4K is still pretty new and people don't want to invest in it. Music sales of any kind ain't what it used to be. Upgrading older concerts aren't always an option because a lot of them were filmed on video. I collect bootlegs so quality is not a big issue for me.

The more niche formats you stack up (4K, Atmos, etc.) the less potential customers.

Not entirely true. Lots of stuff that was filmed on video has been upgraded to Blu-ray. Or DVD even. The aforementioned R.E.M. concert was shot on video and upgraded rather nicely to Blu-ray. A Pixies concert shot on video was upgraded to Blu-ray. A lot of TV shows and adult films that were shot on video have been upgraded as well. Saying that upgrading older concerts isn't always an option is not that true. Anything can be upgraded. It may not be the highest quality and may not benefit much. However, any benefit is better than none. Not to mention a ton of music videos have gotten Blu-ray upgrades. And I'm sure they weren't shot in the highest possible format to begin with.

It is true. I'm talking about upgrading the picture to true 1080p quality. That can't be done with an old shot on video source. You can upgrade the sound all you want and you can do things to try and make the video look better but you can't upgrade it to 1080p.

Will the picture from a video source be TRUE 1080p? No, it will not. But the upgrade will make it look a LOT better than its video counterpart. I mentioned that the quality and upgrade won't always be significant. However, any improvements will be fairly vast when compared to its original video counterpart, if done right. I have seen many, MANY adult film content shot on video that got upgraded and the difference is pretty significant. That R.E.M. concert is much more improved over the VHS and DVD versions. Not everything upgraded that was shot on video is going to look amazing. Work has to be put into it to make it look good. And it can look good. QUITE good in fact. It won't stun as any other content sourced from digitally shot cameras or stuff shot on film. But it will still benefit.

It's never going to look like 1080p if it was shot on video, while there will be improvements thanks to more efficient video codecs and the bandwidth advantage Blu-ray enjoys...some concerts will always be stuck looking similar to what they looked like on VHS.

Dire Straits Alchemy got lots of negative reviews from consumers that don't understand this stuff, the audio was awesome but yeah...the picture quality is pretty gash.

To add to Hitman's point, a lot of the "option" comes from whether the studio believes the title will be well-received, not a lot of "shot on video" material is, and concerts on disc have been on life support for ages, so we really have to get what we get and not get upset as I tell my littlest from time to time.

Yes, I personally had no issues upgrading Dire Straits Alchemy knowing Chuck Ainley created the surround mix from the original multitracks, but the demographic I'm a part of isn't buying titles in large enough quantities to make it attractive to the studios. I knew the video quality was going to be pretty underwhelming.

At least we still get thrown bones in super deluxe editions that contain surround mixes and concert footage.

ASIA IN ASIA - LIVE AT THE BUDOKAN TOKYO, 1983 - BMG/Arista/May 27, 2022

I haven't found any discussion of this set here, maybe I missed it, so thought I'd chance a posting.

Any comments about the Blu-ray image and sound quality, and the audio quality of the CDs?

YMMV, but I don't need the swag or the vinyl. Small booklet would be good. Did BMG release a box of the BD & CDs?

Love TORI !! - Saw her at the start of her career and , the Females in the crowd kept on Yelling & Screaming in between songs, "I Love You TORI!", etc. - so much so, that Tori asked that they take a break from it, (of course, in a nice way), that they were kind of distracting and didn't need to be yelled out after EVERY SONG
