That's one thing that went well for Cyberpunk, many of the graphical issues, bugs and glitches were kind of funny to see. Of course when I put the disc into the PS4 to test it out, and then the PS5, the graphical quality was about the worst thing I've seen from a AAA developer on PS4, so that wasn't as funny.

There are some good ideas in this game and some decent gameplay. I like the vehicle controls despite some issues when braking. The scale of the city is epic, though the city itself is just okay with very little interaction and barren streets, which really hurts the sense of being in a metropolis, unless it's after a plague wiped out mankind.

That said, I have no animosity toward them. I waited for release and only bought once it was clear the XSX version didn't have the issues of the last gen versions or PS5's BC version. They're second to none IMO for making open world games with great little stories for most side quests that make me want to do them even as someone who actively dislikes most open world games these days.

I'll be their for Cyberpunk DLC and whatever they do next...but no preordering and always waiting for reviews and impressions before spending money. To be fair, I do that with 99% of days. Sony and Nintendo's major first party studios are about the only ones I still trust to release polished games.
That's good you went with the XBSX; I heard it was a better version.
For GTAVI, I'll still pre-order that. Otherwise, I rarely pre-order but I did pre-order this game, thinking it would sell out fast, but mostly because I got a good deal of 49.99. A "good deal", well, not a good deal seeing the game on disc.

What CDPR can hope for now is after all of this eventually cools down and people move on to other games before and after the DLC and updates are done in another year or 2, they release smaller budget games that get good reviews and then eventually get back to releasing major RPG type games again eventually if that's their goal. If their company still remains intact and not closed or sold and merged to another.

Yeah I had very few visual glitches on XSX and only 2 crashes in my 64 our playthrough. The visual glitches I did get were things like Jackie being invisible in some scenes that were fixed in early patches. Didn’t really have any issues after the 1.04 and 1.05 hot fixes that touched on those issues and sharpened the image quality that was a little soft at launch on XSX. I beat it before the 1.1 update and haven’t checked it out since. I’ll get back to it for the first DLC or the next gen upgrade.

Cyberpunk free DLC. I wonder what it will include?

I remember the free DLC for Witcher 3 had a short story mission that was interesting. Stone Wolf or something. But then the other DLC were just costumes or minor things that didn't do much.

So I'd expect a story add on for free DLC but then not much more beyond that before the paid DLC arrives.

What are the odds CDPRed will meet the deadline of late 2021 for the PS5 version of the game? I'm guessing there will be a delay.

I have a crash on 1.1 now. That's 1 crash in 2.5 weeks on 1.1 so it's definitely a lot better.

The checkpointing or saving in this game really sucks sometimes. I started and completed an entire side job, then died in a crime activity 600 m away, and it restarted me before the side job I completed. Yet sometimes it saves very frequently. Very annoying.

After the latest in the Cyberpunk 2077 saga turned into a sizeable data hack (the data has apparently been sold on the dark web now, or something), what could be next? CEO becomes a New World follower and rejects all forms of technology in a bid to put the video games thing behind him? Mass congregation of developers who band together as singers to do a Band Aid type thing for a charity to prove to the world they’re not evil? CDPR pays gamers to buy their game back?

None of these things feel beyond the scope of reality, and I feel at least one of these things will come to pass.

That sounds rough, I agree. The save system could be better.
One memorable thing is the roller coaster. It's a good 2 minute ride and sort of fun. It seems to get the physics right. I wonder if the only way to get it working is with the street kid path that I chose.

I wonder if the main founders will stick around or bail out and leave CDPR. That guy that put his face on the apology statement, would've been smarter to just read the statement in audio only with a written statement instead of appearing in it. IMO.

I doubt the founders are ever going anywhere. They've made millions and it's their company.

While this bad launch hurt, I'm sure Cyberpunk will end up a big money maker when all is said and done as there aren't that many huge WRPGs these days, they're getting the issues fixed and I'm sure people will be back for the next gen upgrade and future paid DLCs.

Plus the next Witcher game is a guaranteed hit with how loved Witcher 3 was and the Netflix show probably making more people interested. Hopefully they learned their lesson and won't have a bad launch again.

At this point the CDPR is in big trouble.

Source Code for Cyberpunk was just hacked and stolen from CDPR. Im hearing its also been sold to someone not CDPR.

Witcher 3 Source code was also stolen and sold.

CDPR will need a miracle to make it through this with profit now.

To remember how to turn a nightmare around, just remember Hello Games and No Man's Sky launch. That was a disaster as far as false advertising goes with the multiplayer concept, even though he did try to correct the idea by saying it would be surprising if anyone ever found another player in the game, even though I heard that wasn't actually possible in the launch game.

Another player landed in the spot a different player was in, and they weren't visible.

But if No Man's Sky can continue fixing and adding to No Man's Sky for absolutely free to the gamers who already have the game, years later even, and rebuild their reputation as committed developers who actually ended up caring about the game they created, then CDPRed has hope if they are smart and take that same path.

CD Projekt Red, if they're smart, will make all the DLC FREE, not just the free DLC on the way. That would be a wise move, as with Hello Games. Words of apology are one thing, but actually going the extra mile and sacrificing more profits would say a lot more about what they really think about their fans.

Will they offer all free DLC? If not, not good. But they should stick with Cyberpunk for the next 2 years before moving on to another game if they're wise.

Unfortunately Witcher 4 was taken.

Though it originally had a project name via the source code which was sold that was different.

So yeah, game over CDPR

Is it game over though? I'm not a fan of CDPR's business tactics at this point, and it's interesting to see them struggle for their crimes, but even if someone stole the source code for Witcher 3 and 4, they can start from scratch as a lot of developers do even for sequel games.

If anyone emerges with a Witcher 4 game clone, then CDPR could maybe figure out how to handle it if they check the coding of the game.

Of the 8 million pre-orders, most of those 49.99 and up, I'll guess about 3 million got refunds, so they're still probably in the profit margin. But then add in the lawsuits that will affect them, and cut that in half too.

So maybe they'll be back to where they were financially when they succeeded with Witcher 3. But with a marred reputation that might be repairable if they take the No Man's Sky path of ALL free DLCs for a few years after the nightmare launch.

CDPR has all of the source code on backups, they don’t have to start from scratch.

That's true, good point.

If the lawsuits don't destroy them, and they keep working on improving Cyberpunk, and they have enough money to do it, then they can get through this self-imposed nightmare situation they created, and redeem their company.

They should really drop the public share/stock of their company if that was possible and go back to being independent if they really want freedom again.

Yeah, it sucks but its not like pirates stole a finished Witcher 4 game or something. They’ll just keep building it and people will buy it.

People over react to things like this. People will get over the bad launch and buy their next game (and even Cyberpunk still, especially after the next gen update is out, and it’s DLC). Hardcore gamers on forums raise a big stink about things, but the mainstream market has a short memory about these things and companies the hard core complain about a ton like EA and Ubisoft sell tens of millions of games.

CDPR will be fine. This has all been a big setback, but they have GOG making money, the now huge Witcher franchise and CP still finished high on game of the year lists and will probably be fine in the long run. As we’ve all said many times they should have just canceled the last gen version and just launched on PC this winter and next gen later this year when ready. Still a great game if you play on PC or XSX and seems like the PS5 version isn’t crashing all that often anymore as well.

That's true that things might seem very serious at the moment, but it's a good point that even EA, Activision, Bethesda and other bigger companies/publishers/developers have suffered similar disasters for whatever reason and years later, are still here releasing new games that people are buying.

It's interesting to see that Cyberpunk really was going to be a 3rd person game at first, until plans were changed during development.

I had read Witcher 3 source code was taken not 4. But if it was 4 they are in even worse shape then previously thought.

Eventually, you will turn out to be right. The Witcher 3 was awful at launch too, but obviously this was on a much bigger scale due to CDPR being a lot bigger after that game's success and the hype of this. People forgot about that given how great it was once it was in much better shape, and while this one will be harder to forget given how much press this whole situation got since release, I don't think they are dead either. The Witcher 4 will make sure of that.

As for CDPR being in real trouble because of stolen source code and such, like somebody else said, they would likely have all of that backed up, so they can just keep moving forward. Unless they have to buy it back, this would mean very little to them in the end.

Witcher 3 was not broken at launch like Cyberpunk.

I played and completed Witcher 3 on PS4 on launch from the disc without a single patch/update until I completed the game. Then I was stunned by the giant 7.6 GB patch they were offering. I downloaded it finally and it improved the wobbly camera so it was steady for a change, eliminating potential dizziness.

True, I was definitely more than a bit off there as it's rare for a game to ever release in the shape Cyberpunk did. I played it well after release, so obviously it ran really well then. I do remember people saying it was glitchy when it first released though. The rest of my post still applies regardless.

Half Life 2 was stolen before it was almost finished remember and look how great it still did, I just worry about GOG being hacked.
